OPA! 🇬🇷 What a wonderful time celebrating at the annual St. Basil’s Greek Festival!

Mayor Mantello was joined by Council President Steele, Council Members Campbell-Cohen, McKee, Struber, and DiLorenzo in enjoying this cherished Troy tradition. It was also great to be joined by elected officials from across Rensselaer County, including Sheriff Kyle Bourgault, Director of Operations for Rensselaer County Rich Crist, and numerous County Legislators.

From the delicious food and lively music to the warm hospitality and strong sense of community, the festival once again showcased the rich culture and traditions that make this event so special year after year!

A heartfelt thank you to Reverend Emmanuel Mantzouris, Steve Bobarakis, and the many volunteers, parishioners, and supporters who work tirelessly to keep this incredible tradition alive in the City of Troy. Your dedication helps bring our community together and ensures that generations to come can continue to enjoy this beloved celebration.

Today, we pause to remember the brave men who stormed the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944, and all those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the fight for freedom. On D-Day, thousands of soldiers faced unimaginable danger, knowing the cost could be their lives, yet they moved forward with extraordinary courage and determination.

Their sacrifice helped change the course of history and secured the freedoms we continue to enjoy today. As we mark the anniversary of D-Day, we honor their legacy, remember their service, and express our deepest gratitude to the Greatest Generation. May we never forget the heroes who gave everything so that future generations could live in freedom. 🇺🇸

🚧 The 2026 Annual Infrastructure Improvement Plan Begins Monday, June 8th! 🚧

Mayor Mantello is excited to announce the first week schedule of milling and paving work under the 2026 Annual Infrastructure Improvement Plan.

Beginning June 8, crews will begin milling the following streets, with paving to follow within approximately two weeks (weather permitting):

🛣️ June 8–9
• Alley between 4th Avenue & 5th Avenue (104th Street to Northern Drive)
• East Park Place (112th Street to 113th Street)
• West Park Place (112th Street to 113th Street)

🛣️ June 9–10
• 120th Street (1st Avenue to 2nd Avenue, and 3rd Avenue to 7th Avenue)
• 121st Street (1st Avenue to 3rd Avenue, and 5th Avenue to 6th Avenue)
• 122nd Street (2nd Avenue to 7th Avenue)

🛣️ June 11
• Antonia Court (Lori Jean Place to dead end)
• Lori Jean Place (Gurley Avenue to Cemetery Road)
• Cemetery Road (Gurley Avenue to 119th Street)

🛣️ June 12
• 103rd Street (6th Avenue to Peter Guenette Lane)
• Peter Guenette Lane (103rd Street to Knick Pool)

(Please note: The block 4th-5th Avenue Alley between 121st Street and 122nd Street is slated for utility improvements in 2027 and paving will be delayed until completion of that work)

This work is part of the Mantello Administration's ongoing commitment to improving Troy’s roads, sidewalks, accessibility, and overall quality of life. By coordinating paving projects with our lead service line replacement program, we’re ensuring taxpayer dollars are invested wisely and that newly paved roads won’t need to be excavated again in the future.

'No Parking' signage will be posted in scheduled work areas at least 24 hours before milling and paving begins. We appreciate your patience as we continue building a safer, smoother, and more accessible Troy.

At last night’s City Council meeting, Mayor Mantello, Council President Steele and the entire Troy City Council came together to recognize the lives and legacies of two extraordinary individuals whose contributions helped shape our city.

We honored and remembered Mike “Pickles” Picarillo, who dedicated nearly 40 years of service to Troy as Supervisor of Streets for the Department of Public Works. Pickle’s unmatched work ethic, leadership, and pride in his work left a lasting mark on our community and on generations of City employees who had the privilege of working alongside him.

We also honored and remembered Owen Goldfarb, a respected public servant, devoted husband to Pricilla Fairbank, and financial troubleshooter whose expertise helped guide Troy through some of its most challenging fiscal times. Owen’s remarkable career took him around the world, where he worked on U.S. AID-funded projects and helped rebuild communities in countries emerging from conflict and economic hardship.

We were grateful to have the entire Picarillo family, Pricilla, former Mayor Mark Pattison, Mario Musolino, and many others present in Council Chambers for the reading of resolutions commemorating Mike and Owen’s lives. While the evening was solemn, it was also filled with gratitude as we reflected on their service, their accomplishments, and the lasting impact they made on the City of Troy.

May their legacies continue to inspire us for years to come!

What a great day for the Eastside neighborhood and all of Troy! 🎉

Today, Mayor Mantello, Deputy Mayor Donnelly, and Council President Steele joined residents, community leaders, and the TSL Kids Crew from Sacred Heart Church to officially unveil the exciting upgrades at Kinloch Park!

The revitalized park now features brand-new playground equipment, a new basketball court, enhanced landscaping, improved amenities, and the completion of a long-awaited drainage system that will help keep the park accessible and usable for years to come.

For far too long, this beloved neighborhood park was overlooked. Today marks a new chapter - one that reflects the Mantello Administration’s commitment to investing in our neighborhoods, our families, and our children.

Kinloch Park is just one of many improvements happening across Troy, from the upcoming opening of the new Knickerbacker Aquatic Center to continued investments in Prospect Park and the future all-inclusive playground at Frear Park.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this project possible and to the community for your patience throughout construction. Now it's time to enjoy it!

Together, we're building a cleaner, safer, and stronger Troy - One Troy at a time!💙🌳🏀🛝

Thank you to everyone who attended last night’s Frear Park Neighborhood Meeting to discuss the plans for the future and permanent Pavilion and Event Space at the former Park Pub location.

Mayor Mantello, Deputy Mayor Donnelly and the entire administration greatly appreciate the community’s engagement and participation. It was valuable to hear your questions, concerns, ideas, and suggestions as we continue planning this exciting project. Your feedback helps ensure this space reflects the needs and vision of the residents who use and love Frear Park.

If you were unable to attend, don’t worry! The full presentation is available online at TroyNY.gov/ReimagineFrearPark. There, you’ll also find a suggestion and question form where you can share your thoughts directly with the Mantello Administration and Clough Harbour Associates (CHA).

Thank you again to everyone who took part in the conversation. Together, we are creating a tremendous and permanent upgrade that will enhance concessions, community events, and gathering opportunities for generations to come at Frear Park! 🌳🍽️
