🌿 Welcome to Preserving South Carolina’s Forgotten Historic Cemeteries
Thank you for joining us.
This page was created to identify, document, preserve, and bring awareness to forgotten historic cemeteries across South Carolina.
It all began with one cemetery, Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery in Travelers Rest. As we researched its history, we realized this is likely not an isolated situation. There are many historic cemeteries throughout our state that have been neglected, forgotten, or are in need of preservation.
Our goal is to build a documented record of these cemeteries so we can better understand the scope of the issue and work with communities, historical organizations, churches, veterans groups, county leaders, and state legislators to explore long term, sustainable solutions.
