I attended the “No Kings” rally, as did millions across our country. A true testament to the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution that protects the right to protest. Specifically, the clauses regarding freedom of speech and the right to assemble to protect the right to express views and gather with others and to advocate for change.
I stood in solidarity with the hundreds that gathered at Dr. Powers Park., not only as a resident of Tracy, California, in the United States of America, but as a fellow human being on this planet we all share.
I believe deeply in our democratic values: in the rule of law, in the balance of power through checks and balances, and in the principles of decency, ethics, and mutual respect. I believe in tolerance, in acceptance, and in our shared responsibility to uphold the moral fabric of our society.
These are overwhelming times. Many of us feel as though we’re living through chaos that we cannot control. And yet—we gathered.
we stood together.
In our unity, we find strength. In our presence, we find purpose. And in this moment, we draw upon our shared resilience to meet the challenges before us.
Because when we the people stand together, it is our collective power that sustains and protects our democracy
Thank you Indivisible Tracy and
Democratic Club of Greater Tracy for organizing but especially
to our community, young and old, that shared this time of deep concern.
This is democracy in action.
Look forward to the next one.
