Dotty Nygard

Dotty Nygard City Council Member for the City of Tracy My name is Dotty Nygard and I am a Registered Nurse. I am running for congress to say enough is enough on your behalf!

As an advocate for patients, as a long-time member of this community, and most importantly as a mother and grandmother; I can no longer stand idly by as our concerns and our vision for this country continue to be ignored. An elected representative should embody the ideals, strengths, and spirit of the people they represent. Equally important, they must understand the concerns and struggles we face

as individuals and as a community. An elected official must show leadership and dedication to their constituents, rather than sacrifice our future to the highest bidder. Here's my pledge to you: I will bring back the caring, compassion, and community that is often lost in the mundane, indifferent, business-as-usual culture in Washington and our Political establishment. NO MORE playing politics with our healthcare,
NO MORE playing politics with our natural resources,
NO MORE playing politics with our children's education or our ability to earn a living wage and support our families. We deserve better! We need to preserve and protect the nation's leading agricultural industry here within our rich Central Valley soils. The future sustainability of our region hangs in the balance, and will be decided at the voting booth in 2018. We must embrace our diversity and respect the tradition of immigration at the core of our Nation's heritage. I will stand FOR you, and I will march WITH you! Our needs and values should NOT be lost in the political process but our voices should be heard THROUGH it.

How do you define sustainability?

I attended the “No Kings” rally, as did millions across our country. A true testament to the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution that protects the right to protest. Specifically, the clauses regarding freedom of speech and the right to assemble to protect the right to express views and gather with others and to advocate for change.
I stood in solidarity with the hundreds that gathered at Dr. Powers Park., not only as a resident of Tracy, California, in the United States of America, but as a fellow human being on this planet we all share.

I believe deeply in our democratic values: in the rule of law, in the balance of power through checks and balances, and in the principles of decency, ethics, and mutual respect. I believe in tolerance, in acceptance, and in our shared responsibility to uphold the moral fabric of our society.

These are overwhelming times. Many of us feel as though we’re living through chaos that we cannot control. And yet—we gathered.

we stood together.

In our unity, we find strength. In our presence, we find purpose. And in this moment, we draw upon our shared resilience to meet the challenges before us.

Because when we the people stand together, it is our collective power that sustains and protects our democracy

Thank you Indivisible Tracy and
Democratic Club of Greater Tracy for organizing but especially
to our community, young and old, that shared this time of deep concern.
This is democracy in action.
Look forward to the next one.

Thank you all for your support. Earlier today, the Registrar of Voters has finished counting all the votes, and I have proud to announce I have won and will your next Tracy City Council Member.

My campaign was not about me, but about our city. I have long fought for our community, as a nurse, as a non-profit leader, and in my campaign. But now, I am excited to bring that same passion and dedication to our city Council. It is time to put people first, and get City Hall working for us!

I look forward to serving you over these next four years.

WE DID IT! 🎉 Thank you, Tracy, for believing in our vision and for standing by our side every step of the way. This victory is ours together, and I am honored to have the opportunity to serve this incredible community.

I’m beyond grateful to everyone who supported, volunteered, and voted to make this dream a reality. Let’s get to work and create the Tracy we all envision—a town that thrives, lifts each other up, and keeps moving forward.

Here’s to the future, Tracy. Let’s make it bright!
