We wanted to share one more with you today from shortly after we arrived at Cades Cove on Monday. It was a frigid 27° in the morning and frost and fog lingered throughout the valley. We walked into the field to capture the sun as it was cresting over the mountain, and to the left you'll see "the tree" that everyone loves so much.

Alert 11 point buck! This big 11 pointer went on alert when he came across some does feeding on some acorns down a ridge. He started grunting and chasing them but they would have nothing to do with him right now, but it won't be long. Shot 11-9-14 in Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mountains National Park. While out walking in the back woods I saw something black moving down the ridge next to a tree and it was this bear digging for grub and insects in the rotten part of the "V". It worked for over 10 minutes digging and eating all the juicy morsels it could find. Shot 11-8-14 in Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mountains National Park. A little bit of snow, heavy frost and beautiful colors in the sky to start off a new day in the cove. Every time that you go to Cades Cove you can get a different look of the landscapes and scenery as the change of the seasons progress and that's what keep bringing us back their time after time. Here is a series of just some of the images we captured today in the Smokies. The snow is currently falling outside right now but it's mostly due to the weight of it on the tree branches. It is, without a doubt, a sight to behold and we're happy to be sharing with all of you. :)
(Note: The only editing applied to these images was our watermark added. They are displayed as was taken directly from the camera.)

The easy way to eat acorns! This nice looking wide racked 8 pointer was eating the acorns all around him while he was bedded down. The acorn and hard mast crop is great this year in the mountains, there are places that you can scoop them up by the shovel full. This will be good for all the critters that depend on the acorns and other hard mast crop to fatten up and be ready for winter. Photo Shot 10-25-14 in Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Striking a pose! This nice looking wide racked 8 pointer was bedded down in the deep back woods of the cove. He had been eating the acorns all around him. The acorns and other hard mast crop will fatten him up and be ready for the upcoming rut and winter. Photo Shot 10-25-14 in Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mountains National Park. A close up view of a dogwood tree over Cades Cove! While driving around the loop I saw this nice dogwood tree with the beautiful valley and mountains of the cove behind it and thought it would make a good photo. Fall colors at the Carter Shields Cabin! The Cabin is believed to have been built in the 1830s. George Washing "Carter" Shields, a veteran of the Civil War who was crippled in the Battle of Shiloh in April 1862, called the cabin his home from 1910-1921.
The area provided a beautiful place to retire, as the Dogwood trees which bloom there in the spring make it one of the loveliest stops on the cove tour. The Carter Shields Cabin stands at the last homestead on the Cades Cove driving loop. This is one of my favorite cabins in the cove, Shot 10-25-14 in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
