A PLACE OF RELIEF. A PLACE OF COMPASSION. A PLACE OF HOPE.

During periods of extreme heat, the Compassion Impact Center becomes even more important for our neighbors experiencing homelessness and others struggling throughout our community.

For someone living outside, extreme temperatures aren’t simply uncomfortable—they can become dangerous very quickly. The Compassion Impact Center provides a safe place to get out of the heat, take a shower, receive a meal, connect with caring people, and access multiple community resources—all under one roof.

But it’s about more than getting cool.

Every visit is an opportunity to build relationships, address immediate needs, connect people with resources, and help someone take another step toward greater stability and permanent housing.

Extreme heat reminds us why this work matters. Compassion can literally change the story.

We have something incredible to celebrate: our community has worked for the past few months to help us get so close to our goal of having INDOOR showers for our unsheltered neighbors this fall! ❤

Thanks to their amazing generosity, we’re getting closer to making this much-needed resource a reality. Our goal is to have the showers installed and ready to use by this November - providing warm indoor showers just as the colder months arrive. We’re now in the final stretch, with $15,000 left to raise!

Hear Cody's story from the Compassion Impact Center!

For more than six years, Cody lived outside - much of that time in a tent along the river. Drugs, discouragement, and the realities of life on the streets kept him caught in a difficult cycle.

But today, Cody’s story looks very different.

He has a home. He has a job. And today, he is five weeks clean! In a recent conversation with Jamie Brown, Coordinator of the Compassion Strategies GRIT Navigators, Cody talked about what helped him along the way.

For years, he regularly came to MAP every Tuesday and Thursday, especially to use the shower trailer. But what Cody remembers most wasn’t just the shower. It was the people.

“Everybody here was always positive and happy and smiling. That helped. That made me feel like someone cared.”

That is what Compassion Strategies' MAP is about. We provide showers, meals, clothing and other basic necessities - but those services create opportunities for something even more important: relationships, trust and hope.

Sometimes the journey from the streets to stability begins simply by showing up week after week and letting someone know: we are here to walk alongside you when you’re ready.

Cody made the decision to change his life and he is doing the hard work. We are incredibly grateful that MAP could be one part of his bridge forward.

Congratulations, Cody. Keep going! Your story is just beginning. ❤️
