Tornado Watch:
There is a slight chance of a Tornado (“watch”) in parts of CT to include Tolland County. I have met with our Public Safety Director, DPW Director, as well as our Eversource CT rep today all in person to assure our readiness for an event.
I also spoke with Kevin Wood, he believes this is a very small likelihood of any storm coming through Tolland, he reiterated that this is just a “watch” and said that we might not even see significant rain. Please see details released by the State of CT this afternoon.

Update: 4:15p all residents power has been restored, thank you Eversource for quick responses.

Over 930 without power due to Tolland Stage and now an issue on Walbridge Hill. Big winds coming. I met with our Eversource CT Rep and Fire Chief today to ensure resources are prepared.

RT 74 Tolland Stage Rd will be closed between Exit 69 (84E) and South River Rd. -Likely several hours due to MVAx car v pole. Pole and wires down. I victiEversource CT to hospital. TFD, CSP and Eversource CT are already on scene. Possible intermittent power outages in the area.

Update- Eversource CT is on scene.

With the wind, a pine tree has taken out some wires on RT 74 Tolland Stage Rd, right near Garry Rd. Traffic is diverted. TFD and CSP are on scene. Eversource has been notified. Approx. 500 w/o power.

MEMORIAL DAY PARADE CANCELLED:

Due to the forecast for significant sustained rain and cold temperatures, the Tolland Memorial Day Parade scheduled for Sunday at 1:00pm has been canceled.

This difficult decision was made collaboratively and by consensus between the Tolland Town Council leadership, the Permanent Celebration Committee, and the Town Manager’s Office. Thank you to Tolland residents Kevin Wood for his consistent forecast updates over the last three days.

We recognize how important this annual tradition is to our community and appreciate the tremendous effort that goes into organizing and participating in the parade each year. Most importantly, we continue to honor and remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.
