Lucas County Clerk of Courts The Clerk of the Court of Common Pleas has roots dating back to medieval clerics. Established in Ohio in 1802, the position became elected in 1851.

Today, the Clerk oversees court records and duties outlined in over 250 sections of the Ohio Revised Code.
