Sometimes we make decisions that aren’t very smartt…and sometimes those decisions earn you a trip to jail!!

You know decisions like the ones made early yesterday morning by Alexandra Smartt!! (Get it...see the play on words we did right there). Well anyway, yesterday morning, Deputy LeDoux was conducting traffic enforcement on US 1 in Melbourne, when he clocked Smartt's car going 85mph in a 55mph zone!! Upon stopping the vehicle, the driver, Alexandra Smartt, seemed to be struggling when asked for her license.

Smartt told Deputy LeDoux that she was coming from a birthday party and she left the party because she doesn’t drink alcohol. Well as she exited the vehicle and had to use it for stabilization, she was asked how much she had to drink, which she said “one old-fashioned," which is odd because the universal answer for have you been drinking tonight is usually "two!!"

As you might imagine the roadside sobriety exercises didn’t go too well, and inevitably Smartt blew a 0.139!! Unfortunately for her, this was the end of her drive and the beginning of her courtesy ride in our guest services shuttle to Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge for driving under the influence!!

You know folks, with all of the ride-share options available these days, there’s no reason to drink and drive. If you choose to drink, make the "smart" choice to arrange a designated driver and stop putting your life and everyone else’s at risk!!

If you think running your mouth and acting like a tough guy is going to help you after you neglect to take care of your dog…you better think again!!

This dog unfortunately had no chance at survival after being neglected, so today we went to put this guy behind bars to pay for the way he treated his dog!!

A trip to the beach is usually one of the simple pleasures in life that many people enjoy. The sun, the relaxing sound of the waves crashing on the shore and the fresh air are all so enjoyable!! But unfortunately, Brandon Bennett, didn’t get the memo that pleasuring oneself in the parking lot of the beach is not one of the pleasures people were talking about and it is kind of frowned upon!!

On Monday, while two people were walking through the parking lot, they observed Bennett sitting in his vehicle, looking in the direction of a group of juveniles while participating in some “self service” acts. Once Bennett realized people saw him, he quickly exited the parking lot trying to evade the area!! One witness was able to get a license plate before the car took off, allowing Deputies to follow up with Bennett at his residence!!

While Bennett did say that he was at that parking lot, he denied participating in any inappropriate actions while there. Unfortunately for him, there was enough evidence to give him a solo ride down to Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge where he was booked into his shared suite for exposure of sexual organs and public nudity!!

Folks, everyone is trying to have a nice summer with their family and friends, so just remember...keep your pants on in public and for goodness sake save the rest of the community from seeing things they shouldn’t be seeing at the beach or anywhere else for that matter!!

Update on deceased dogs located inside of the residence on Blue Bonnet Drive

Today was a pretty cool day as the Space Coast Feline Network held their second Spay & Neuter clinic at our very own "K9 Junny’s Animal Medical Center!!"

The surgical event focuses on community cats, as well as cat owners on a fixed income who are looking for affordable options to get their pets spayed or neutered, along with vaccinations, microchips and other services!! Today, as a result of the partnership between their team of amazing volunteers and Veterinarians, they were able to provide surgery and other services for over 50 cats!!

Johnathan Critchfield, President of The Space Coast Feline Network, leads the way for this completely volunteer run organization to help community cats in Brevard. For this event, they bring their own Veterinarian, all of their own supplies and work in our amazing facility, along with plenty of help from incredible volunteers, to make this day happen!!

I want to thank Johnathan, the doctors and all of the volunteers for making this clinic a success and for continuing to care for the homeless animals in our community!! As I always say...it takes a community to protect a community!!

You know what day it is…Super Speeder Saturday!!

In the early morning hours, Deputy Schulze was conducting radar on 528 when he saw a flash!! Before he knew it, a white Lamborghini was pushing the pedal to the metal as he clocked him going 107mph in a 45mph zone!! That's right 107 in a 45, in a Lamborghini, near Port Canaveral!!

Deputy Schulze popped on the blue lights and thankfully the driver, Corey Weedman, pulled over because if not, it would have been a long day for our guys!!

Deputy Schulze asked Weedman the reason for his speed, and he told him it was a big night and he rented the Lamborghini to celebrate!! Well unfortunately for Weedman, the only place to celebrate in Brevard for Super Speeders is at Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge!!

Folks, we will keep saying the same thing and we won’t stop, there’s absolutely no reason to drive at that speed on our roads!! Everyone deserves to go home safe and irresponsible drivers put themselves and everyone else at risk!!

Brevard County seems to be getting the message to drive safely on I-95 so now it's time to make sure our friends from out of state hear it loud and clear too...when driving through Brevard County you better drive to arrive alive cause if not, you'll be arriving with a lot less money in your wallet!!
