I learned of this today when I was dropping off my son at athletic training. A young man exited the car wearing a pink life vest. In today’s times there are much different fashions and freedoms of expression from when I was in high school, so I thought, “eh, it is what it is”, but it was also the first time seeing a teenager wearing a life vest in the beginning of April miles from any water in the Chicagoland suburbs. I immediately said to my wife, “is that boy really wearing a pink life vest?”, and she then educated me on ‘Senior Assassins’. Thanks Village of Manhattan Police Department for this post!

If you see teenagers hiding behind cars, lurking in bushes, sprinting through parking lots, or acting wildly suspicious… don’t panic 😅

They are most likely participating in an ongoing water elimination game being played by the senior class around town.

No, it is not a crime spree.
Yes, they probably are being dramatic.
Yes, someone is probably getting ambushed at a gas station.

Please just know:
🏫 It’s a school tradition / senior game
💦 It involves water fights
🦹‍♂️ They may look ridiculous wear arm floaties or goggles
👀They are likely being watched by 4 other seniors from across the street 👀

The class of 2026 are enjoying the last moments of childhood .

However… if you see anything suspicious or unsettling, please do not hesitate to call us!

The high school football career freshman year can either start as the best most memorable experiences or it could be the complete opposite. For me and so many of my high school teammates started our Andrew Football Program journey with one of the best coaches we could’ve asked for as incoming freshman, Jerry Grohn. “Scoops 1” & “Scoops 2” were nicknames Coach Grohn gave Mike and I, a name he was still yelling 30 years later when I was officiating his Lockport HS team vs Bolingbrook.

See you in the end-zone one day Coach Jerry.

Today Orland Hills Public Works Director Mike Hanley and a group of our Public Works team provided assistance to the community of Aroma Park removing debris from the tornado damage suffered last week. The photos are surreal that a single storm can do that much damage.

More to come in the coming days how we can help the community of Aroma Park.

SEVERE WEATHER BREAKDOWN: We have the risk for severe weather late today and into tonight. A broad timeframe is 3PM-Midnight.
3PM-7PM: Isolated storm chance
7PM-MIDNIGHT: Numerous storms

Everyone is under a severe weather risk, with large hail being the highest risk. This risk is area-wide, with central and southern areas at the most heightened risk. These types of storms could support hail up to golf ball or egg sized.

There is also a tornado risk basically at I88 and south. The highest chance would be I80 and south. I'm looking closest at LaSalle, Grundy, southern Kendall, Will, Kankakee, central/southern Lake (IN) and Porter, Jasper, Newton- though it is not a 0% chance north of there.
This environment and storm type would support a tornado at EF-2 intensity and would support a longer-lasting tornado than this area (this time of year) generally sees.

We can't rule out a wind threat as well, though it's generally a lower risk than the hail/tornado threat. If we see warnings for wind gusts, it seems more likely to be later into the time frame (9PM-Midnight) as these storms *may* become more linear by then.

All in all, there is high confidence that severe weather occurs in central/northern Illinois late today/tonight.

If you step outside around 5PM and it's mild (60s) and sunny, just know you're in that higher tornado theat.
If you step outside around 5PM and it's chilly and cloudy, you are moreso in the hail threat.
