When I first ran for Council, I didn't do so with the goal of any sort of political career. I ran because I believed Tigard was going through an important period of transition, and I wanted to help provide thoughtful leadership while giving back to the community that has given so much to my family.

Serving as your Councilor has been one of the greatest honors of my life.

Over the past couple of years, I've had the privilege of working alongside dedicated council members, outstanding city staff, volunteers, local businesses, and community members who care deeply about our city. I've learned something from every conversation, whether we agreed or disagreed, and I am incredibly grateful for the trust you placed in me.

One of the things that gives me the most optimism about Tigard's future is seeing so many new voices become involved. More people are serving on advisory committees, joining community organizations, volunteering, attending meetings, and speaking up about the issues they care about. That kind of civic engagement is what makes a community strong.

For that reason, and in order to finally be able to spend more time with my family and for selfcare, I have decided that I will not seek re-election to the Tigard City Council in November.

I have worked closely with the wonderful incumbents that are running and truly care about where this city is heading. I’ve also been able to see their selfless service outside of City Hall. Whether it be Councilor Heather Robbins’ dedication with the Scouts or at the high school, or Councilor Anderson’s work as the past president of our Rotary Club here in Tigard.

PLUS, we have an exceptional group of people who are eager to lead with a whole slew of phenomenal candidates that showed up to help serve our community.

Although I won't be seeking another term this November, my commitment to Tigard isn't ending. This community is my home, and I'll continue looking for opportunities to serve in different ways... I'm not stepping away; I'm just stepping back.

Finally, I have one request for everyone who calls Tigard home… Keep showing up.

Attend a Council meeting. Volunteer for a committee. Support a local nonprofit. Shop locally. Introduce yourself to neighbors. Share your ideas, even when they're different. The future of Tigard won't be shaped by seven people sitting on the dais... but rather the countless residents who choose to be engaged.

Thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving as your City Councilor. It has truly been an honor.

A little bit of good news from my own backyard: our yard is now a Silver Certified Backyard Habitat! 🌱🐝🦋

Over the past few years, I’ve been working to make our yard a little more welcoming to native plants, pollinators, birds, and other wildlife. Through the Backyard Habitat Certification Program, we learned more about what we could do right here at home to create a healthier habitat!

What I like about this program is that you don’t need a huge property or a perfectly landscaped yard. It’s about making thoughtful changes over time: adding native plants, reducing invasive species, supporting wildlife, managing water responsibly, and creating a space that’s healthier for both people and nature.

If you’re a Tigard resident interested in doing something similar, the Backyard Habitat program serves residential properties in town and provides a site visit, personalized recommendations, resources, and discounts to help you along the way, in partnership with the Bird Alliance of Oregon

Tonight's National Night Out events have been cancelled due to the forecasted heat in combination with poor air quality caused by wildfire smoke. While we're disappointed, the safety of our community comes first.

Although the transition should be seamless for those in Tigard that are already registered, it’s good to update what you currently have so you’re notified if disaster strikes!!

A new emergency alert system is coming to Tigard.

On Monday, July 20, the City of Tigard will transition from CodeRED to Everbridge. Everbridge will help us provide fast and reliable emergency alerts about severe weather, fires, floods, boil water advisories and other critical incidents.

Already registered with CodeRED? Your subscriber information will transfer automatically. On July 20, you will receive an email or text inviting you to create an Everbridge account and confirm your information.

Not currently registered? Sign-up at the Community Preparedness Fair July 25 or online beginning July 20 at tigard-or.gov/Emergency-Alerts.
