The Thurmont Lions Club invites you to join us as we come together to **remember, honor, and pay tribute** at two meaningful ceremonies this September.

🕯️ **9/11 MEMORIAL CEREMONY**
📅 Friday, September 11
⏰ 6:30 PM
📍 Memorial Park, 116 East Main Street, Thurmont

Our featured speaker will be **Daryl Byrne**, a former Connecticut Fire Department (CTFD) firefighter.

⭐ **DEDICATION OF THE GOLD STAR FAMILY MONUMENT**

⏰ 5:30 PM
📍 Memorial Park, 116 East Main Street, Thurmont

The Gold Star Family Memorial was created by Medal of Honor recipient **Hershel “Woody” Williams** to honor and remember families who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

A **reception will immediately follow the dedication ceremony at the Thurmont American Legion.**

🇺🇸 Please join us for these special occasions as a community. Bring a **chair or blanket** and help us remember those who served, sacrificed, and continue to inspire us.

🌟 Lion Spotlight: PDG Paul 🌟

For decades, Past District Governor Paul has been a cornerstone of Lionism and a treasured member of the Thurmont Lions Club. Known as the "sage" of our club, Paul is the person we turn to for wisdom, guidance, and answers. His deep knowledge of Lions policies and procedures, combined with his unwavering dedication to service, has helped shape generations of Lions.

Thank you, Paul, for your leadership, mentorship, and the countless ways you continue to strengthen our club and community. We are fortunate to have you as part of the Thurmont Lions family! 🦁💙💛

Join us tonight!

🚔 National Night Out will be Tuesday, August 4, 2026 from 6:00pm until 7:30pm at the Thurmont Police Department.

💙 National Night Out was established in 1984 by the National Association of Town Watch. While the traditional “lights on” and front porch vigils remain a part of the National Night Out, activities have expanded considerably over the years. National Night Out is designed to heighten crime & drug prevention awareness; generate support for, & participation in, local anticrime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit & police-community partnerships along with sending a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

👮🚒🚑 This event is also a perfect opportunity to get to know your neighbors, the Thurmont Police Department, Fire & EMS Vehicle Displays.

🤩 There will be Live Music, Free Food, Information Booths about Various Community Organizations, Paco the Beverage Buro, Pony Rides, a Bounce House, Giveaways, & More!

Sharing the Emmitsburg Lions Club's post and to let you know that we have collection stations at Mountain Gate Restaurant, Thurmont Regional Library, Med 1 Pharmacy, Goodwill, Thurmont Senior Center, and the Lewistown United Methodist Church. So, if you are in Emmitsburg or Thurmont, we would be happy to collect. :)

🌟 **Member Spotlight: Meet Heidi!** 🌟

When you hear the word **volunteer**, Heidi immediately comes to mind. As a Community Health Worker with a local nonprofit health initiative, she is passionate about helping others both on and off the job.

Heidi brings a sunny personality, creative ideas, and a willingness to roll up her sleeves whenever help is needed. Whether she's working behind the scenes or lending a hand at an event, her positive attitude is contagious.

We are incredibly lucky to have Heidi as part of the Thurmont Lions Club family. Thank you, Heidi, for all you do for our club and our community! 💙🦁💛

Another Lions year is in the books, and what a fantastic year it was! Our meeting gave us the opportunity to recognize some truly deserving members for their dedication and service to the Thurmont Lions Club.

🏆 Congratulations to our award winners:

• Bill Reckley – Progressive Melvin Jones Award
• Don Keeney, Jr. - Lion of the Year Award
• Joyce Anthony– President's Appreciation Award

Thank you for everything you do to make our club stronger and our community better.

The evening was also a time to celebrate an incredible year under the leadership of President Bill Reckley. Bill stepped up to lead our club and guided us through a banner year filled with service, fellowship, and success. Thank you, Bill, for your outstanding leadership and commitment to the Thurmont Lions Club!

As we turn the page to a new Lions year, we welcome Incoming President Doug Favorite. We're excited to see his vision and leadership as he puts his own stamp on our club. We know great things are ahead!
