Well, the deadline to file for the next election has come and gone, and I am very happily able to report that I am running unopposed for the Ector County Court at Law #2 bench. I am both humbled and honored by the continuing faith that the public and the legal community has in me. I will endeavor to do what I have always done since joining the judiciary almost 16 years ago; uphold and employ the highest standards of integrity, civility, compassion and fair judgment. Thank you all…. each and every one of you…. for your continued belief in me and support of me. It is deeply appreciated. ONWARD!

Well hello all! Some exciting (and decidedly expected) news…. I have today filed to run for re-election to the Ector County Court at Law #2. I have been on A bench since 2009, and have been on the CLL #2 bench since 2018. In that time, I have enjoyed my job immensely, and have appreciated the public’s faith in me and support of me. So it was not a difficult decision at all for me to decide to run for the bench again. I hope you all will continue to support me! Thank you!!!

Good morning all! I am happy to report that I have filed my paperwork seeking re-election to the County Court at Law No. 2 bench; a job which I have held for almost 4 years now (bringing my total years of bench experience to 12 and a half!). The judiciary is a labor of love for me…. Quite simply: I love my job! I have worked at Ector County in one capacity or another for almost 16 years, and I have enjoyed every minute of it. I would be honored to continue to do so, and would appreciate your support in the coming days! Thank you all!

Well, folks, it’s been quite awhile since I posted anything on this page, because it’s been a long time since I needed to. However, with the COVID-19 pandemic in full swing, I thought it pertinent to let you all know that my court, while still handling all “essential” matters as they arise, is more or less closed to the public and “in person” hearings. This comports with both guidance from the Office of Court Administration as well as the various emergency orders issued by the Texas Supreme Court.

Rest assured that we will get “back to normal” as soon as we are able, and that we will do our best to catch up on whatever case backlog this situation creates.

I will post a copy of my most recent Emergency Order which pertains to the Ector County Courts as soon as practicable. In the meantime... stay safe, be well, and we will all get through this together.

Hello all! For the past year I have been on the bench as the sitting judge for the County Court at Law #2 as an appointee filling out the previous judge’s unexpired term. Today, with my wife by my side, I was sworn in for my first official FULL term in this court! I am so excited to continue the work that I have already been engaged in, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve this county and its residents, all while doing what I love! God bless you all.... and let’s continue to move forward and make Ector County a great place to live and work!

Ladies and gentlemen.... the filing deadline for all races has come and gone. I want to thank all of you for your support and want to share some very exciting and surprise news with you all.

Late last week, I learned that the County Court at Law #2 Judge had decided that he was not going to run for re-election. With that in mind, I thought and prayed about the possibility of moving my candidacy to that court. To make a long story short, today, I did so. As of the filing deadline today, I was the only candidate to file! This means that, instead of a contested race in The CCL, I am now running for the Ector County CCL #2 unopposed!

This switch will allow me an assured move into the court, and will make my continued work for, and service to, Ector County a certainty. I intend to keep every single promise I have made. I will not let you, or Ector County, down. God Bless you all.

In case you missed it.... here is my interview this morning from The Morning Drive, News Talk AM550. Enjoy!

For those of you that missed my official announcement speech.... here it is! I know that many of you had to be at work at 11am, so this will allow you to see the announcement as though you were there! Enjoy! And remember to support me at the polls on March 6!

Here is the full text of the speech....

"Ladies and gentlemen, thank you all for being here today as I announce and celebrate what I consider to be a momentous, life-altering occasion. Earlier this morning, I officially filed paperwork with the Ector County Republican Chairperson for a place in the 2018 Ector County Primary, to be considered for the position as the next Judge of the Ector County Court at Law. The decision to do this has been made only after much careful deliberation, conversation with my family, who has always supported me fully, and thoughts and prayers about what my next step down the path of the Texas State Judiciary should be. Being the next Judge of the Ector County Court At Law is the right move for me, and I am the RIGHT choice for Ector County.

I have spent the last 8 years of my career preparing for the position which I seek today. Over that period of time, I have been the Justice Court judge for precinct 2 here in Ector County. I have presided over numerous bench and jury trials; both civil and criminal in nature, and have made many difficult, sometimes heart-wrenching decisions. This has given me invaluable EXPERIENCE as a sitting judge…. something that must not be overlooked, something that is crucial to a seat on a County Court at Law bench, and an attribute which, currently, I am the only candidate to possess. I have also spent this time carefully crafting a consistent, conservative judicial philosophy, and have developed a strong and sound judicial temperament. My rulings are firm, but are considered and rendered with compassion. I have both the passion and dedication to do this job.

Being a judge… making decisions that affect people’s lives and property…. is not an easy task. But it is a challenge that I accept willingly, and a job that I do with pride and humility. Because it truly IS more than a job to me…. It is my way of life.

Service to the state judiciary, to the citizens of Ector County, and to the values that both the Texas State and the United States Constitutions represent… THAT is what is important to me. This is a very important court in our County. Not only does it hear civil and criminal cases that affect the daily lives of our adult citizens, it is also the Court that is responsible for hearing juvenile cases. I believe that being the juvenile court is one of the most important aspects of the County Court at Law, for it is within that system that we have the ability to form and shape young minds, and lead them away from destructive behavior, and down a path toward prosperity, accountability, and productivity as citizens. I can assure you all that the immense importance of that aspect of this Court is well known to me, and that I very much look forward to helping continue to shape and mold the Ector County juvenile justice system going forward.

Now, more than ever, Ector County needs a humbled servant to maintain the excellence and integrity of the Court that has been established by Judge Bobo through many long and dedicated years of service. I want to be that servant. I have been that servant as the Judge of the Justice Court for the past 8 years. I am asking the citizens of Ector County to continue to have faith in me and allow me to continue my career of public service.

This life that I’ve chosen…. A life of service to Ector County, and to our state judiciary, has been and will always be my passion and my purpose. I would be deeply honored and humbled to be chosen to serve as your next Judge for the Ector County Court at Law. Thank you all. May God Bless Texas, and May God Bless the United States of America."

Ladies and gentlemen.... it will be time soon to kick everything into high gear! I will need some block walkers to help me walk blocks and distribute literature. I will also be happy to provide signs for yards, etc..... and any other way that you would like to help with my campaign. The way this race will be won is by spreading the knowledge of who is the more qualified candidate.

So if you'd like a sign.... or would like to help walk blocks a time or two, or can think of any other way you can help, please feel free to either leave me a message here or private message me! Thank you all so much!

I'm at the 9-11 exhibit with my daughter Ameri. We are standing in front of the flag that was flying over the NYC PD's Precinct 13, and was then flown over Ground Zero one year later.

It is important for today's children to be educated on the dangers of terrorism, and on the need to be vigilant, to stand for what is right and to always be mindful of their surroundings in today's society.
