Super excited to announce that Freedom Link Group/Four States Mesh Radio deployed our latest repeater on Cusseta Mountain in Cass County, Texas this morning!

Tower mounted at approximately 740’ MSL/130 AGL of the mountain, and 340’ AGL over the surrounding area, we believe this may be the tallest MeshCore Node in the state of Texas!

We’re already seeing great improvement in connectivity!

Welcome to Four States Mesh Radio!

We're a group of radio enthusiasts working to deploy a network of mesh radio repeaters and other infrastructure to the Four States/Ark-la-Tex area to provide for emergency and other off-grid communications in the event other traditional communications systems become unavailable for whatever reason. Many in our group are also affiliated with Freedom Link Group, which operates a network of Amateur Radio repeaters across the region.

We are currently primarily deploying mesh repeaters flashed with the MeshCore firmware, but discussions of other systems like Meshtastic, LoraWan and others are welcome here as well. After significant prior testing of Meshtastic, we have elected to transition to Meshcore instead, primarily for greater message delivery reliability.

Our initial round of deployments are focused in Bowie and Cass counties with a goal of expanding outward from there. We have testing repeaters currently deployed on two tower sites in rural Cass County, and multiple sites in and around Texarkana, Nash, and Redwater, Texas.

In the coming weeks, we hope to have final production repeaters fully deployed at our existing locations as well as at several additional sites which will greatly expand the reliability and reach of the system.

We currently use the US/Canada Recommended Meshcore preset for Lora settings (Freq: 910.525, Bandwidth: 62.5, Spreading Factor: 7, Coding Base 7).

Additional information will be released soon as we begin to expand.
