Job Title: Data Collection Specialist
Department: Assessor’s Office Reports to: Assistant Assessor
Position Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)

Position Summary
Bedford Township is seeking a Data Collection Specialist in the Assessor’s Office. This position works under the general supervision of the Assistant Assessor and Head Assessor and is responsible for inspecting and measuring properties throughout the Township to assist with property assessment and valuation.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
• Measure and verify parcels included in the 20% reappraisal
program as well as all new construction projects.
• Identifying and list property characteristics that may affect
value, interviewing property owners when necessary, and
conducting an annual personal property canvas to identify
new or closed businesses throughout the Township.
• Maintaining and filing various records and documentation
throughout the year, and updating building sketches using
Apex sketching software
• Performing other duties as assigned by the Assistant Assessor
or Head Assessor.

Qualifications / Education Requirements
Knowledge and Skills:
• Knowledge of conflict resolution when working with taxpayers
or property owners
• Understanding of real estate principles related to property
value
• Ability to effectively use BSA CAMA software, Microsoft Office
Suite, Pivot Point field data
• collection software, and Apex sketching software
• Training will be provided for the right candidate
• High School Diploma required
• Michigan Certified Assessing Officer (MCAO, Level II)
certification from the State Tax Commission is preferred but
not required; training will be provided
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license

Experience:
• Six months of experience in the building or real estate industry
is preferred
Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job,
the employee is regularly required to communicate with
others and visually and physically inspect properties. The
employee frequently must sit for extended periods, stand,
walk, and traverse uneven terrain, stoop, kneel, or crouch, and
occasionally lift or move light items of light weight.

Department: Building Department Reports To: Building Inspector
Status: Full-Time (40 hours per week)

Position Summary
Bedford Township is seeking a motivated and organized Administrative Assistant to support the daily operations of the Building Department. This position reports directly to the Building Inspector and works closely with other township staff and the public. The Administrative Assistant plays a key role in ensuring efficient office operations and providing excellent customer service to residents, contractors, and visitors.
Primary Responsibilities
• Answer phones and assist residents, contractors, and visitors
with building department inquiries
• Schedule inspections and coordinate inspector calendars
• Process building permits and maintain permit records
• Prepare correspondence, reports, and other documents
• Maintain department filing systems and records
• Assist with payroll processing for building inspectors
• Coordinate meetings and departmental communications
• Provide general administrative support to the Building
Inspector and department staff
• Assist the public with general information related to building
permits and procedures

Knowledge and Skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general office software
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate
records
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to work with the
public in a professional manner

Training and Development
• Training will be provided. The selected candidate will gain
knowledge of zoning regulations, building codes, setbacks,
and general building department procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Prior administrative or office experience preferred
• Experience in municipal government or construction-related
fields is a plus, but not required

Monroe County Community College will host an Adult Learner Open House on March 12 for those age 21 and above who are considering college.

The event will be held in Founders Hall (Building F) from 5-8 p.m.

Register for the Adult Learner Open House at:

Attendees will be able to meet with faculty, staff and current students and learn about:
• Academic preparation for college-level work
• Admissions, orientation and registration
• Financial aid opportunities, including access to scholarships and free-tuition programs for those who qualify (a Michigan Reconnect representative will be present.)
• Student Success Center services such as tutoring, disability services, assistance with
• Developing soft skills and career readiness, mental health services, Heck’s Market Food Pantry, writing and presentation services, and more
• Areas of study (Representatives will be on hand to provide information on all of MCCC’s pathways.)
• Short-term career training through the offices of Lifelong Learning and Workforce Development

Have some patience because main roads are cleared first. Bedford Township assists the road commission with subdivisions once we hit 6 inches which looks like we will. Stay safe and warm.
