The Village Project Mentor Program

The Village Project Mentor Program We are a youth mentor program sponsored by the Third District Juvenile Court. The Village Project became a formals program in late 1994.

The Village Project Mentor Program finds its roots in the courtroom of Judge Andrew Valdez who saw the need for positive role models for the youth appearing in his court. The program was named "The Village Project" based on the African proverb, "It takes a village to raise a child." Mentors are matched with youth based on common interests and location.
