This Saturday, the Brandon Riverview Chamber of Commerce is proud to shine our Nonprofit Member Spotlight on Meals On Wheels of Tampa, Inc. — an organization proving every day that a meal can mean so much more than food. ❤️

🥗 Nourish. Enrich. Strengthen.

Meals On Wheels of Tampa is dedicated to nourishing, enriching, and strengthening the lives of seniors and individuals who have difficulty leaving their homes and preparing meals. Each day, caring volunteers deliver hot, nutritious meals to approximately 1,000 individuals — along with something equally important: a friendly visit and human connection.

For some homebound neighbors, that volunteer may be the only person they see or speak with all day. That means each delivery can provide nourishment, a wellness check, companionship, and reassurance that someone in the community cares.

And this mission truly depends on the community! Meals On Wheels of Tampa is privately funded and does not accept direct government funding, making donations, volunteers, businesses, and community partners vital to the work they do.

💙 How can we support this fellow Chamber member?

🚗 Volunteer — A typical meal-delivery route takes about one hour, and both individuals and groups can get involved.

💵 Donate — Financial contributions help Meals On Wheels of Tampa continue reaching seniors and homebound neighbors throughout the community.

🤝 Get your business involved — Companies and organizations can explore opportunities such as Adopt-A-Route, sponsorships, workplace giving, in-kind donations, and community partnerships.

📣 Spread the word — Follow their work, share their mission, and help connect someone who may need meal-delivery assistance with this incredible resource.

Meals On Wheels of Tampa is closed today in observance of Labor Day.

But before we rest, a salute to a different kind of labor: the volunteers who drive, knock, smile, and serve our homebound neighbors all year long. Your work is a labor of love — and Greater Tampa is better for it. ❤️

Support Meals On Wheels of Tampa just by dining in September at any of the locations of the 1905 Family Of Restaurants. That includes all seven locations of the Columbia Restaurant plus Cha Cha Coconuts, Ulele and Casa Santo Stefano .

When you enjoy lunch or dinner, simply select us on the ballot provided with your check and the restaurant calculates the 5 percent donation and provides us with gift certificates that can be used at any of the restaurants for up to 12 months, at no extra cost to you!

For Ms. Vilma, a delivery means more than nutritious food at her door. It means keeping her independence. It means a real conversation with someone who knows her name. It means knowing that somebody is coming, and somebody cares.

That's the part people don't always picture when they think of meal delivery. The knock, the greeting, the few minutes of company that come with every route.

Today's special: Tuscan Chicken over penne, served with cauliflower and carrots.

Every meal we deliver is prepared fresh that same morning, on-site in our commercial kitchen — never shipped in, never reheated from a warehouse. It goes out in a recyclable, meal-sized tray and arrives hot, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Our menu runs on a 28-day rotation so no one eats the same thing week after week, and we offer three menus — Heart Healthy, Diabetic Friendly, and Renal Friendly — each available pureed or chopped. Alongside the hot meal, every Neighbor receives water and a side.

And every delivery comes with a knock at the door and a familiar face. That's the part that isn't on the menu.
