Captains Matter has organized a class action lawsuit representing fishing captains who experience a loss of livelihood because of the acts and inaction of others. Piney Point has been special throughout history, acting as a headquarters for ancient civilizations in and around the area. Piney Point is also thought to be the point where Hernando De Soto sailed across Tampa Bay and landed in the 1500
s. The fish and wildlife we still harvest today were abundant in the Native times, Spanish times, Industrialization times, and even now have been abundant still. Their lives are now being genuinely threatened for the first time in history. These animals, and the Captains whose livelihood depends on them, deserve a voice and deserve answers!. Tommy Mingledorff and Colby Connell have collectively spent over 20 years fishing the area, enjoying experiences much greater than fishing. It is our mutual love for Piney Point, fishing, salt water, wildlife, Florida, and a mutual goal of clean water that bring us together. Our voice can only be heard as a team, and as a team our voice will be strong. We encourage all captains to get on board so we can begin to take action, and prevent future tragedies!
