Celebrating Earth Day by spotlighting two incredible Tallahassee-based artists and educators, Meghan Mick and Sam McCoy, who will be painting two nature‑inspired murals this May as part of Leon County’s newest outdoor public mural system. Be part of the creative process by joining them to paint —  sign up through the link in bio and add some color {literally} to bring this vision to life.
Meghan and Sam are longtime friends, collaborators, and educators who share a deep appreciation for the natural ecosystems of North Florida. Their work highlights the unique species and landscapes that make our region so special.
“We met at FSU and quickly discovered a common fascination with the natural world and a love of the power of public art to connect people to their places,” says Meghan. Their first large-scale collaboration, Dusk in the Longleaf Gap in downtown Monticello, celebrates the longleaf pine ecosystem of the Red Hills and the flora and fauna that define it.
Sam has been painting for more than 15 years, exhibiting across the Southeast. You can find her work locally at Venvi Gallery or explore more at sammccoyart.com.
On March 25th, KCCI and the project partners announced the seven professional muralists selected to create what will become The Stacks, Leon County’s newest art destination. Stop by throughout May to watch these two stunning landscapes come to life and see the final artistic elements take shape.

We’re proud to spotlight Myah Freeman, who from the moment you meet her radiates positive energy and enthusiasm for the arts. Myah is one of the seven professional artists hired by KCCI to create Leon County’s largest outdoor public mural system. Her mural honors the legacy of Anita Davis, a beloved community leader whose impact shaped Tallahassee’s cultural landscape.

Myah’s work blends vibrant color, symbolism, and storytelling to reflect the strength, creativity, and community spirit that Anita championed. As part of this mural initiative, her piece helps transform public spaces into places that inspire connection and celebrate the people who make our region unique.

Mrs. Anita Davis was a pivotal figure in Tallahassee and Leon County public life, remembered for her civil rights leadership, community advocacy, and historic role in local government. Her story spans activism, public service, and decades of work expanding access, representation, and opportunity across the region.

Come by in mid-May to watch Myah in action and as the final artwork goes up to create Leon County’s most meaningful public art destinations.
