We want to take a moment to sincerely THANK everyone who has reached out … both publicly & privately to share your stories, concerns, experiences, & words of encouragement regarding this Elder Abuse Awareness page & the MERRILL case & there will be more unfortunately!

Since beginning to speak about this, we have heard from people who have their own stories to tell. Some have witnessed troubling situations firsthand. Others have shared experiences that they may not have felt comfortable speaking about publicly (several). Your voices matter.

This is exactly why awareness is so important!!!!

This page was never created for gossip. It was created to educate, bring awareness, ask questions, share documented information when appropriate, & truly help people better understand how elder abuse & exploitation can happen so quick & sometimes right in our own small communities!

Real stories & real experiences can help others recognize warning signs before they or someone they love becomes a victim. The legal battle is excruciating for all!

Small communities often operate on trust, which is what we love about smaller communities! That makes it even more important that people feel safe speaking up when something doesn’t seem right & before it’s too late!

UPDATE — Talkeetna, Alaska

There is another important court development involving:
{{ DIANNE MERRILL }}

Tomislav “Tom” Bosnjak is facing a criminal charge for allegedly violating a protective order involving Dianne Merrill.

Alaska Court System records list the charge as Violation of a Protective Order, AS 11.56.740(a)(1), a Class A misdemeanor. The court record lists the alleged offense date as:

September 17, 2025, in Talkeetna.

The State of Alaska is prosecuting the criminal case, & the court docket now lists the Public Defender Agency as representing Tom Bosnjak. So a public defender has been appointed, not a private attorney.

This criminal proceeding should not be confused with the separate civil litigation concerning the Merrills, their property, & their life-estate rights.

We will continue sharing documented court information as these cases move forward.

For clarity: This is a pending criminal charge. A charge is an allegation, not a conviction, & Tom Bosnjak is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
