Sussex residents :
Changes coming for emergency medical services countywide .
Removal of the 2 current EMS county managers and replacing with 1 to be advertised position running by Dec 1.

Current EMS provider contract ends Sept 30.

Waverly Reacue will manage their total operation with no county management or input but Sussex will fund ALL responders since Waverly has 0 volunteers .
It is alleged this plan will cost Sussex hundreds of thousands of dollars .

If you agree or disagree make your voice heard . A meting is tentatively schedule for next Monday @ Sussex for discussion .

7/17/25 SUSSEX CO BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING UPDATE:

NO action is anticipated on ANY SOLAR; and not a public hearing on the siting agreement for BIG PINE SOLAR.

• We will be scheduling / advertising a special meeting to be held in the next couple weeks to ENTERTAIN ACTION on BIG PINE AND ALSO CASSIUS BLUE SOLAR.

Sussex Co Va new budget : probable vote June 12 @ 6 pm Sussex General District Courtroom.
Also , public hearing for a parrot rescue among other things .

INTERSTATE 95 SUSSEX COUNTY:

I have been working with VDOT STAFF and have been asking for help due to the serious bumps ans potholes and patches .

Latest update and hopefully this will be relief for us all who drive the route .

VDOT has plans this summer to make pavement upgrades from Greensville Co Line northbound to Prince George Co Line.
There will be 2 different types of materials used : From G-Ville Co Line to mile marker 25
Will be a mill /fill paving and a Thmaco seal from there to PG Co Line.

Hopefully this helps our safety .

Sussex Co INTERSTATE 95 between Jarratt and Stony Creek roughly mile marker 23-25 area north bound pavement :

Asking Sussex Co to write a letter to VDOT for repairs to horrible section of potholes that have made news headlines.
Minor repairs have been made, but the bumps are still there for miles that are still Causing vehicle damage .

Not sure how much help we will get this year since extra snow decimated the VDOT MAINTENANCE BUDGET.

But at least it may be on the radar for help.

Due to weather and driving conditions .

Good evening ; appears we have gotten some Waste Management corrections at our Sussex Co dumpster sites , keep your fingers crossed and let me know if you experience out of the ordinary issues .

Thank you to WM management for listening to our concerns and making some corrections . Sussex will need to make sure only Sussex citizens are using this service to keep all partners happy.

As always , thank you to all of our first responders in any weather , but especially in the brutal conditions we’ve already had and will coming soon .
Heard the trucks rolling several times last night in Stony Creek…. Thank you all greatly for your sacrifice and service .

When you fight a fire and the water is freezing that you spray, that’s a whole different cold …. Or trucking through the median strip of 95 carrying a stretcher .
