One of South Brunswick Islands Rotary’s favorite days of the year! 📚💙

SBI Rotary members had the joy of visiting Jessie Mae Monroe Elementary to hand out books to students—and there’s nothing better than seeing the excitement on the kids’ faces when they realize they’re getting books to take home and keep as their very own.

The biggest reaction of the day may have belonged to the 2nd grade crowd when Flat Stanley made an appearance—it definitely earned some cheers! 🎉📖

Moments like these remind us that something as simple as a book can spark imagination, build confidence, and inspire a lifelong love of reading.

Thank you to everyone who helps make this tradition possible. Investing in our students and encouraging literacy is one of the many ways Rotary works to strengthen our community.

South Brunswick Islands Rotary was blessed to spend Saturday with Brunswick County students and their families helping send kids off for summer with a little extra confidence and support. 👟☀️

Together, we enjoyed a special day shopping for new shoes at Rack Room Shoes in Shallotte—followed by what may have been everyone’s favorite part… sharing lunch together at Five Guys! 🍔

More than shoes and lunch, it was about spending time together, building connections, and creating smiles and memories to start the summer season.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day possible and to the families who shared part of their weekend with us. Wishing all of our students a fun, safe, and amazing summer! 💙💛

We’re proud to celebrate the installation of a new Little Library at in Bolivia, NC! 📚✨

Led by Executive Director and fellow Rotarian , HCOM continues to strengthen individuals, families, and our community through education, outreach, and service—and we are honored to support that mission.

This Little Library is more than a place to find books—it represents hope, literacy, education, and community connection. Children and families will now have greater access to free books and resources that inspire learning and lifelong growth.

Thank you to Sharonda and the HCOM team for the meaningful work you do every day and for allowing us to be part of this project. We look forward to seeing its impact for years to come! 💙💛

The South Brunswick Islands Rotary Club is proud to recognize Johnathan “JD” Daniels as our May Student of the Month! 🎉

Selected by the counseling staff at West Brunswick High School, JD stands out as a dedicated student, leader, and athlete. He ranks in the top 10% of his class with an impressive 4.125 GPA, has challenged himself with honors courses, and is dual enrolled at Brunswick Community College, earning college credits while still in high school.

On the court, JD is a four-year varsity basketball player and served as a team captain his senior year, helping lead his team to the Elite 8 in the state playoffs. 🏀

Beyond academics and athletics, JD has made a meaningful impact through his involvement in the WBHS Leadership class, helping plan school-wide events, volunteering at elementary and middle schools, and participating in service projects. As a member of the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program, he has continued to strengthen the skills needed for long-term success in higher education.

JD plans to attend a four-year university to pursue a degree in Business, and we have no doubt he has a bright future ahead.

Congratulations, JD—we’re excited to see all that you accomplish! 👏
