Big Walnut Local Schools is joining schools across Delaware County to support Delaware County, Ohio - United to Fight Against Hunger's Thanksgiving food drive. Donations collected at our schools will be combined with contributions from other districts to help provide Thanksgiving meals to families throughout the county.

Up to 75 free Thanksgiving meal kits will also be available for Big Walnut families on a first-come, first-served basis. Sign up by Monday, November 9. Pickup is Monday, November 23, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Big Walnut High School.

🏆 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS… AGAIN! 🏆

What an INCREDIBLE week for our Big Walnut students at the 99th National FFA Convention & Expo! 🌟

Our Big Walnut/DACC Agricultural Science students represented our community on the national stage and brought home some amazing accomplishments!

🥇 1ST IN THE NATION! Our Food Science & Technology team earned its SECOND CONSECUTIVE national championship!

🥉 3RD IN THE NATION! Our Conduct of Chapter Meetings team advanced all the way to the national finals, finishing among the best teams in the country!

🏅 4TH IN THE NATION! Erin H. earned fourth place in the National Agriscience Fair for her research on baking soda and baking powder levels in sugar cookies!

Three incredible achievements on the national stage! Congratulations to all of our students, advisors, and everyone who helped make these accomplishments possible.

Stumpf’s 5 TD Passes Lead Big Walnut to 67–12 Win, Perfect 10–0 Season and OCC Championship

SUNBURY — Ten games. Ten wins. OCC champions.

Big Walnut capped a perfect regular season Friday night with a commanding 67–12 win over Westland, celebrating Senior Night with an explosive offense and a defense that allowed fewer than 100 yards.

Senior quarterback Eli Stumpf completed 15 of 19 passes for 303 yards and five touchdowns without an interception. Four different Golden Eagles caught touchdown passes as Big Walnut built a 30–6 first-quarter lead and carried a 51–12 advantage into halftime.

Gavin Harrington caught two passes for 49 yards, taking both into the end zone. Brady Simon finished with four receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown; Fen Stumpf added three catches for 56 yards and a score, and Brody Schuster contributed two receptions for 55 yards, including a 42-yard touchdown. Jackson Bowers added three catches for 46 yards.

Nolan Buirley powered the ground attack with 110 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries. Braden Neverman added 24 rushing yards and a touchdown as the Golden Eagles finished with 476 total yards.

Big Walnut’s defense matched that production with a dominant effort, limiting Westland to 96 total yards and six first downs. Cole Swonguer and Jacob Leach each intercepted a pass, while Gage Eckelbarger returned a fumble 19 yards for a touchdown. Cole Hysell recorded a forced fumble and shared a sack with Beau Drake. A fourth-quarter safety completed the scoring.

The victory capped a night honoring seniors from football, cheerleading, and the marching band. Big Walnut finished the regular season 10–0 overall and went undefeated in OCC Capital play.

The Golden Eagles turn their attention to the postseason. Big Walnut will receive a first-round bye in the OHSAA playoffs, with its seed still to be determined. They're guaranteed a home game on Friday, November 6th, 2026.

Big Walnut Elementary welcomed Kevin and James from the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium for a special visit! Students got to meet five animal ambassadors:

🐢 Lucky, an African leopard tortoise
🐧 Anchovy, a black-footed penguin
🐍 Pretzel, a ball python
🦨 Olive, a striped skunk
🦥 Sonny, a two-toed sloth

It was a fun, hands-on opportunity to learn about these animals and ask questions. Thanks to Kevin and James for bringing the zoo to BWE!

Our ELC students welcomed the second quarter with a Fall Fun Day! 🍂

It was a fun way to celebrate the season and start the next quarter together.

Our Big Walnut football players have been out and about around the district over the past couple of weeks, visiting our elementary schools and spending time with our youngest Eagles. 🦅

On the field, the Golden Eagles are off to an incredible start: undefeated at 8-0, ranked first in the region, and among the top five teams in the state! They’re on the road tonight to take on Dublin Scioto.

Next Friday, October 23, is the team’s final regular-season home game and Senior Night, as the Eagles host Westland before heading into the playoffs. Come cheer on the team and help us celebrate our seniors! ❤️💛

🍩🏃‍♀️ Prairie Run Elementary celebrated the end of the first quarter with its third annual Donut Dash!

Students and teachers had a blast, and every student got a donut from Tim Hortons. A big thank-you to the PRE PTO for making this fun tradition possible!

Keep the fun going at the Big Nut Strut on November 8. We hope to see you there!

What comes after high school? Join us for Big Walnut’s 3rd Annual Post-Secondary Transition Panel on November 12.

Students with disabilities and their families can learn about college supports for students with IEPs or 504 plans, employment services, independent living instruction, and Big Walnut’s FLIGHT transition program. Representatives from Ohio colleges, universities, and community programs will be available to share information and answer questions.

The panel will take place during parent-teacher conferences, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Big Walnut High School Performing Arts Center and Academic Commons. Stop by to ask questions and gather resources to explore later.
