🚒 More Training Accomplishments! 🚒

Earlier this summer, several of our members earned their Fire & Life Safety Educator I certification through Alabama Fire College.

Our job isn’t only to respond when something goes wrong - it’s also to help prevent emergencies through education, awareness, and preparedness. This training gives our members another way to serve and protect our community.

A few months ago, we asked our community to stand with the Summerdale Volunteer Fire Department. We asked you to invest in your fire department and help us continue doing what we do - train, prepare, and answer the call when our community needs us.

You answered.

And then you did something we won’t soon forget: you exceeded our goal.

There really aren’t enough words to express what that means to the men and women of this department. Your generosity is more than dollars raised. It is a reminder that we have a community that believes in us, supports us, and wants us to succeed.

We are proud to answer the call in this community. We are proud of the work our volunteers put in. And we are incredibly proud to be the Summerdale Volunteer Fire Department.

Thank you for partnering with us, believing in us, and giving us another reason to be proud to call Summerdale home.

Twenty-five years. And we still remember.

The lives lost.
The heroes who answered the call.
The families who carried the loss.
The courage of ordinary people who did extraordinary things.

Twenty-five years later, the call still echoes.

On September 11, 2001, firefighters and first responders ran toward a danger they could not fully understand, knowing only that people needed help.

343 firefighters never came home.

And aboard Flight 93, when faced with unimaginable circumstances, ordinary people made the decision to act. In the words of Todd Beamer:

“Let’s roll.”

A simple phrase that became a lasting symbol of courage, sacrifice, and the decision to stand up when it mattered most.

Never Forget. 🇺🇸

Last night, Summerdale got to host mobile water supply training, and we had a great group of mutual aid and surrounding departments join us. 🚒

Multiple fill sites, a dump site, troubleshooting, and a whole lot of moving water around - all for one reason: to get better at what we do so we can better serve our communities.

In the fire service, you never stop learning. There’s always something new to learn, something to improve, and another skill to sharpen.

Train until you get it right. Then train some more.

Thank you to everyone who spent their Tuesday night in Summerdale training with us. We appreciate you being here and putting in the work! 💪🔥

Summerdale VFD headed over to Styx River VFD last night for some pump and mobile water supply training. We appreciate their hospitality and the opportunity to train together, share knowledge, and keep sharpening our skills. 🚒 💦

🇺🇸 HAPPY LABOR DAY FROM SUMMERDALE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT! 🚒

Today, we recognize the hardworking men and women whose dedication, skill, and commitment help keep our community and our country moving forward.

Whether you’re spending the holiday with family, firing up the grill, enjoying time on the water, or simply taking a well-earned day off, we hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Labor Day!

As you celebrate, remember a few simple safety tips:

🔥 Keep grills a safe distance from homes, decks, and anything combustible.
🧯 Never leave a grill or open flame unattended.
🚤 Wear a life jacket while enjoying our local waterways.
🚗 Buckle up, slow down, and never drink and drive.
💧 Stay hydrated and take breaks from the heat.

While many are enjoying the holiday, Summerdale Volunteer Fire Department remains ready to answer the call when our community needs us.

Earlier this summer, several of our members took another big step in their training by earning their Firefighter II certification through Alabama Fire College.

This level of training takes time, dedication, and plenty of hard work - and it makes our department stronger and our community safer. We’re proud of each of you for continuing to push yourselves and get better at what you do!

What a special night for Snook Christian Academy as they officially played on their brand-new football field! While Snook has been a valued part of our community for many years, last night was the start of something new - a place where countless Friday nights, big plays, hard work, and memories will be made for years to come.

The Summerdale Volunteer Fire Department was proud to be there to celebrate this milestone with our friends at Snook Christian Academy.

Congratulations, Eagles! Here’s to many Friday nights under those lights! 🦅 🏈 🏟️

We’ve still got a couple of seats available in each of these upcoming Alabama Fire College classes hosted right here at Summerdale VFD:

📅 September 12, 13, 26 & 27

📅 October 3, 4, 17 & 18

Both classes are held 8 AM - 6 PM on weekends at Summerdale VFD.
