🚧 Storm Cleanup Update 🚧

City crews are currently working hard to open roadways and ensure safe travel throughout the community following the recent storm.

Beginning Monday, crews will start removing storm debris and brush from affected areas. Residents should place storm debris and brush by the roadside for pickup. Please make sure that the debris doesn't obstruct or block streets, sidewalks, drainage areas or utility equipment.

Regular scheduled brush pickup will resume after storm cleanup operations have been completed.

We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding as our crews work to restore normal conditions as quickly and safely as possible. Thank you for your cooperation!

πŸ’§ UPDATED WATER RESTRICTION INFORMATION πŸ’§

🚨 WATER RESTRICTIONS REMAIN IN EFFECT 🚨

Restrictions will remain in effect through the summer months and into the fall. The aquifer that the city uses for our only water supply is currently 15 feet below normal levels. The restrictions will be no lawn watering, no pools large or small, no hot tub filling with city provided water; conservation remains encouraged, with residents asked to be mindful of usage and repair leaks promptly, the water meter will send a notice the City office, city office notifies distribution crew to check address for leak, the customer will then be notified of leak at that time. Please do your part to conserve water as the city continues to monitor the aquifer water levels.

πŸ“‹ KEY WATER CONSERVATION MEASURES πŸ“‹

No Lawn Watering: through the summer months and into the fall.

No Lawn Irrigation: through the summer months and into the fall.

No New Fills: Do not initially fill hot tubs, swimming pools or ponds, with city water provided water. Find area water hauling companies on the internet that will bring water from outside of town.

Both car washes in town have never been closed. What we are asking is no personal car washing at your place of residence.

Restaurants: no pre-serving water unless asked by the customer

Leak Repairs: detectable leaks must be repaired within 72 hours, or water service may be shut off.

πŸ’‘ GENERAL VOLUNTARY TIPS πŸ’‘

Run only full dishwasher loads in dishwashers, the average dishwasher can use up to 7 gallons per wash.

Run only full washing machines, the average washing machine can use 30–50 gallons per wash.

Turn off water while brushing teeth, shaving, or handwashing dishes.

Turn off the shower while shampooing hair or soaping up.

Do not wash driveways with water.

Plant drought-resistant plants and shrubs.

Purchase rain barrels to collect rain water for outside watering

Every drop counts. Thank you for helping conserve our community's water supply!

πŸ’§ Water Shortage Reminder πŸ’§

The City of Sullivan would like to remind residents that we remain under a water shortage condition. While the recent rainfall has certainly helped, it has not resolved the ongoing concerns regarding our community’s water supply.

Local aquifers recharge very slowly, and although conditions may appear improved on the surface, groundwater levels take much longer to recover. Continued conservation efforts are still necessary to help protect the long-term stability of our water resources.

We respectfully ask all residents to continue following City ordinances regarding non-essential water use. Limiting unnecessary outdoor watering and other non-essential usage helps ensure adequate water availability for essential residential, commercial, and emergency needs.

Residents are also encouraged to consider collecting rainwater for gardening and landscaping whenever possible. Using rain barrels or other collection methods can help reduce demand on the municipal water system while still supporting outdoor plant care.

The City of Sullivan continues working toward long-term solutions to address the current water shortage and sincerely appreciates the cooperation, patience, and understanding of our residents during this time.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to responsible water use. πŸ’™

🌸🌼 The planters around the square have been planted with flowers this weekend! 🌺🌿

They will be watered using only water from Lake Wyman πŸ’§πŸŒŠ. The City is still experiencing drought conditions with our wells 🚱, therefore no city water will be used for watering the flowers. 🌷
