In December 1843, entrepreneur and author Charles Dickens released A Christmas Carol, a holiday classic that saw its first 6,000 copies sell out in just one week. By January 1844, another 2,000 copies had already found their way into readers’ hands.

On December 5, 1933, Prohibition officially ended in the United States with the repeal of the 18th Amendment.

Congress revoked the ban on the manufacture, sale, and transportation of intoxicating liquors, and the repeal was ratified by 36 states — becoming the 21st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

"Hot Off the Press: A Conversation with The Texan's Konni Burton" - November 18, 2026

The festive Houston Museum of Natural Science - Sugar Land was the site of a special event hosted by the Fort Bend Business Coalition (FBBC).

The Coalition invited the founder and CEO, Konni Burton, of a statewide political news organization dedicated to countering media misinformation by providing fact-based news regarding Texas politics: The Texan.

Burton, a former Texas senator, provided an informative presentation to FBBC members, elected officials and guests regarding the political landscape in Texas and opened up the discussion with a "Q & A" to conclude the evening.
