I am deeply honored and humbled to have been re-elected to serve as Sheriff for the great City of Suffolk. For the trust and confidence that has been placed in me—thank you. Your support and belief in our mission mean more than words can express.

As Suffolk continues to grow and establish itself as one of Virginia’s top five fastest-growing cities, I remain steadfast in my commitment to stand by the pledges of this campaign: to modernize our operations, unite our community, and engage our citizens with transparency, dignity, and respect.

Together, we will continue building a Sheriff’s Office that reflects the best of Suffolk—forward-thinking, compassion, and dedication to protecting and serving every resident.

A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of participating in the podcast Wait a GAM Minute, known for its thoughtful and wide-ranging discussions. During our conversation, I spoke about my service as Sheriff, my upbringing in Hampton Roads, and the motivations that led me to pursue a career in law enforcement more than two decades ago.

The podcast is hosted by Shante “Gogetta” Hall and Trivelle Gambrell, who also leads Suff.Impact, a commendable organization dedicated to empowering young people in Suffolk. I deeply value and support the positive impact this work continues to have within our community.

There are many things to love about Suffolk. One of which is how our community comes together to help and support each other. Not just from person to person, but also the businesses in our city that give back and build up community. Today, in addition to celebrating her birthday, I’d like to recognize a leader in our community who models what makes our city so great.

In May of this year, I received the Community Service Award from Suffolk’s Epsilon Iota Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Though my name is on the plaque, this is recognition for the work that the Suffolk Va Sheriff’s Office does for our community.

To the men of the Epsilon Iota Lambda Chapter, this amazing award means more than you know to me, and I will continue to work to make this city the best it can be.

The Office’s core values represented by UNITY is knit into everything we do through our service. Building unity in Suffolk is more than bringing people together, it’s about meeting people where they are. This Sunday I visited New Gospel Temple COGIC Suffolk VA’s Family & Friends Day Service. It was also great connecting with get_Suffolk and Pastor Marcus X. Golden.

It was great to fellowship and catch up with some friends I hadn’t seen in years. Until next time…

One of the many things I enjoy about serving in Suffolk is exploring opportunities for partnerships and collaboration. This weekend I met with the brothers of the Portsmouth/Suffolk Kappas to discuss ways the city, the sheriff’s office and the fraternity can work together for a better, stronger Suffolk. I walked away excited and am thankful to be able to play a part.

This weekend I had the chance to stop by Saddlebrook’s Block Party. I’ll just say that community knows how to come together and have a really good time. I had a chance to speak with some residents I already know and meet some new ones. Events like this highlight what makes Suffolk so special.

And…there was a taco truck! The american taco was absolutely delicious!
