Earlier this evening, members of the Suffern Vol. Hose Co. #1 trained alongside the Suffern Hook & Ladder Co. #1, the Hillburn Fire Department, and Spring Hill EMS during a large-scale mass casualty incident (MCI) drill involving a school bus accident with multiple victims.
The scenario challenged responders to perform vehicle extrication, triage, patient treatment, and coordinated transport under realistic conditions. Crews worked together to remove trapped patients, and practice the communication and teamwork required during a high-stress incident involving numerous injured occupants.
Training like this is critical to ensuring our firefighters and EMS providers are prepared to respond quickly and effectively when the unthinkable happens.
We would like to thank Spring Hill EMS for facilitating this training and inviting us to participate. By training together, we strengthen the partnerships that make our emergency response system so effective.
