UlsterCorps UlsterCorps connects volunteers with service opportunities in Ulster County. BUILDING A CULTURE OF VOLUNTEERISM AND SERVICE IN ULSTER COUNTY

Why UlsterCorps?

Join our community of Ulster County residents who are reaching out to help people and projects in need. In early 2009, a small group of committed volunteers launched UlsterCorps to bring other volunteers together with the organizations in Ulster County that rely on their help. Since its inception UlsterCorps has connected thousands of people with dozens of Ulster County agencies that provide food,

clothing, shelter, emergency services, literacy training, child and elder care, animal welfare, and more to the area’s most vulnerable residents. UlsterCorps has become a vital, collaboration-building resource for nonprofit agencies, civic and religious organizations, businesses, schools, government and volunteers of all ages. Volunteerism is central to sustaining healthy, resilient communities, and UlsterCorps volunteers offer diverse talents, availability, interests, and abilities. Through its comprehensive website www.UlsterCorps.org, volunteers can choose from a wide range of opportunities to serve the needs of others, from one-time events to ongoing commitments that meet their abilities, interests and time availability. Volunteers can also register online for e-newsletters and Action Alerts that notify them of timely events in need of community support. Nonprofit agencies and other engaged groups can find information about collaborative initiatives on our website.

Volunteers needed in Ulster County!

Beginning in June, we’ll be offering an additional monthly, in-person Holistic Healthcare Day in Kingston. We’re seeking volunteer practitioners in acupuncture, herbalism, massage, energy work, counseling, and other healing modalities to join us in serving our community and to help support these healthcare events on a monthly basis.

Our first Kingston Holistic Healthcare Day is Thursday, June 11 at HealthAlliance Hospital and will be open to the public, including hospital patients, healthcare workers, uninsured individuals, immigrant families, and anyone who may not otherwise have access to this type of care.

If you practice a healing or wellness modality and feel called to join us and be part of an initiative shaping integrative healthcare in our region, we’d love to hear from you! Please send us a DM to get involved.

Volunteer opportunities are also available at our monthly Holistic Healthcare Days in Stone Ridge, Rosendale, and other events throughout Ulster County.

Instead of scrolling, you could be building.

Put the phone down. Pick up a hammer. Our build crew is on site every Saturday, and we're asking for just two of them a month from you.

No experience? No problem. We'll show you the ropes, hand you the tools, and by the end of the day you'll have helped build a home for a family in Ulster County.

With severe weather events becoming more frequent and more extreme, it is more important than ever that New Yorkers are prepared for disasters. The NY Citizen Preparedness Training Program teaches residents to have the tools and resources to prepare for any type of disaster, respond accordingly and recover as quickly as possible to normal conditions. This training course will provide an introduction to responding to a natural or man-made disaster. Participants will be advised on how to properly prepare for any disaster, including developing a family emergency plan and stocking up on emergency supplies.

The Citizen Preparedness Corps (CPC) training began in February 2014. Its purpose is to teach people how to prepare for disaster or emergency situations. The course includes information about the types of risks and hazards people face. It teaches how to develop individual and household plans. The training also encourages all to think about and save needed emergency supplies. Learning how to help yourself and others in advance will help you react faster when facing a crisis.
