Also, the Pike's Play in the Dirt award and the Pauline Minnich Trophy from the 2013 Southeastern Flower Show for the garden we designed and installed for the Atlanta Koi Club. Members of Urban Ag Council. We hold the following licenses and certifications: Georgia Certified Soil and Water Conservation Commission License, Georgia Pesticide Applicator License, Georgia Pesticide Contractor License, Georgia Live Plant License, Georgia Seed Dealer License, and DeKalb County Business License. The name Southern Trillium reflects the original 3 founding members’ interest in native plants and woodland gardens. It also carries special meaning in that it represented the three original founding members, supported by their faith in the Trinity, working to create beautiful gardens. The founding members were Lyle Collins, Charlie, Jackson, and Scott Uthlaut. Lyle Collins, now President and owner of Southern Trillium, is the primary designer and also oversees the installation of our custom projects.

Another custom detail wrapped up in this large project. We designed and built this enclosure to hide the equipment for the large water feature, yet still allow easy access for maintenance. The wood exterior is brown balau hardwood decking. Complete with full access front doors and a hinged top with gas struts. We began with an underground vault for the equipment but some site changes switched to moving the equipment above ground but it all still needed to be hidden from view.

We recently completed 6 of these custom raised planters to be used in the horticultural therapy program at A.G. Rhodes. We designed the beds for 6 balconies on the new building. The beds are constructed to be enjoyed for many years, utilizing Brazilian Ipe, Brown Balau, marine grade plywood and an EPDM interior liner with integrated drainage and irrigation. These will allow the joy of gardening to be available to people with different levels of mobility.

We are excited to celebrate our 20th anniversary today. Founded by Lyle Collins, Charlie Jackson, and Scott Uthlaut as 3 individuals passionate about gardens and landscapes, Southern Trillium continues to this day designing and creating custom and unique spaces. Even though the projects have grown in size and complexity over the years, it is always good to look at where we began.

Owner Lyle Collins was a young 23 year old recent college graduate when the 3 began the company, and Lyle is honored today to continue providing exceptional service to his clients as well as helping lead the industry serving on the state task force for the Georgia Certified Landscape Professional program. Here’s to 20 more amazing years!

Yesterday was final cleaning day and start-up for normal operation of the large water feature we built last fall. We had to wait until all the site work was completed on the project to turn it on. A few more remaining details but it is ready to be enjoyed by all.
