Our Story

Orchard Road Community Outreach, Inc. (ORCO) is a non-profit organization based in Stilwell, Oklahoma that is focused on addressing the needs of people in our community and surrounding areas. The organization was formed in 2009 and continues to expand its programs and services, including Turning Point Transitional Housing, Chain Breakers Coalition of Adair County, Women's Shelter for Victims of Domestic Violence and community partnerships with other organizations.

Turning Point Transitional Housing is located on Second Street in Stilwell. Turning Point Transitional Housing provides temporary housing to individuals or families displaced from their home due to natural disaster, fire or other circumstances. The organization funds the operation of Turning Point Transitional Housing through the ORCO Thrift Store, a resale shop located across the street from the housing shelter. ORCO is also currently constructing a facility for victims of domestic violence. The first floor of the facility is complete with the second floor expected to be complete in 2018. ORCO tentatively expects to begin operation in 2019.

In addition to our two emergency housing shelters, ORCO also launched a prescription drug and alcohol abuse prevention program in October 2017. Chain Breakers Coalition of Adair County educates youth on the dangers of abusing prescription drugs and alcohol while also working with other local agencies to implement strategies to reverse abuse trends.

ORCO also provides free meals to the hungry off the street through our Turning Point Transitional Housing facility, and is also a contributing sponsor of New Life Church’s backpack giveaway event every summer by providing hygiene kits to be included in each backpack.
