"Content warning: This post discusses sexual assault.
People with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) are sexually assaulted at 7 times the rate of people without disabilities. Yet for too many survivors, coming forward in a healthcare setting still leads to dismissal, misunderstanding, or no real support at all.
Swipe through to learn why healthcare response matters, what better preparation looks like, and why disabled leadership must be part of the solution. During Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and every month, people with disabilities deserve to be believed, respected, and supported.
