Trivia Unplugged

Trivia Unplugged Trivia Unplugged is an old-school trivia contest - no computers, phone, books or notes allowed. Bring your brainpower & your friends!

Trivia Unplugged is a fundraising event for the Arts Alliance of Portage County. It is a resource free trivia contest. No books, notes, phones, computers or any electronic devices are allowed. The sixth annual contest is being held on September 27th, 2014 at the
Noel Hanger in Stevens Point, WI. The Competition is six hours long, running from 3pm to 9pm. Tailgating starts at 1 o'clock in the park

ing area and on the lawn area outside the hangar. There will be a bar outside beginning at 1. The doors to the Hangar will open at 2pm. Teams need to check in and pick up their packet and team badges. Teams that have not pre-registered may also register at this time if there are any openings left. Registration /check-in must be completed by 2:30pm. You may bring as many team members as you wish. The contest starts promptly at 3pm with a maximum of 10 team members allowed to sit at your team’s table in the competition area. Alternate team members and spectators can observe the competition in the spill off area. Alternate team members may be substituted at any time between questions. A team member leaving the competition area must hand off their badge to a substitute team member. No one enters the competition room without a badge. Questions will be projected on a screen. Teams discuss among themselves to find the answers without divulging the answer to other teams. The music helps to obscure your voices from the teams next to you. Each question will last for the length of one song. When one song is over, answer sheets will be collected, the answer will be announced and the next question will be asked and so on. There will be a break at the end of each hour. During the break, the team ranking will be announced. At the end of the contest there will be a final rundown of the teams. Trophies will be awarded at that time. There will be a mixer for about an hour afterwards. Once again, NO electronic devices including telephones are permitted in the competition room. If the phone in your pocket rings, not only will you be embarrassed, but your team will also be disqualified. We recommend that you keep your phone (etc.) in your car or with a non-playing spectator. You may leave the competition area at any time to check your phone messages or during the breaks at the end of each hour. If you leave the competition area during a question, you may only re-enter upon the end of that question. Also, there are no books allowed, no paper, no pens and no pencils. Pencils and paper will be provided. From the Arts Alliance…

Hi Trivia lovers. I know many of you have asked about what is happening with Trivia Unplugged and I'm here to tell you all about it. Trivia Unplugged for Habitat for Humanity will take place Saturday, May 30 from 5 until 9 at Springville Sports Barn in Plover, or is it Plvoer? Who really knows! As usual, 10 players per team and registration is $160 per team. For those who played there last year, the sound issue has been addressed and will be very functional this year. Registration opens May 1 and you can get more info and register at www.centralwisconsinhabitat.org. Eck and I will be there dancing, carrying on like a couple of kids and, oh yeah, we'll even ask some Trivia questions. The Kohnen family will be there, doing their scoring thing, a great family, so dedicated to Trivia and Trivia Unplugged. And you are probably all wondering, do you have any hints! Why, yes, I do. Unfortunately, I can't tell you any. Well, maybe that as of 4/10, we have an hour and a half already finished but won't be doing any more until after the 19th of April. Kinda busy for the next week or so. Let's make this a biggie!!! See you there.

Okay, teams, it's time to join the fun of Trivia Unplugged at the Noel Hangar in just 2 days. I'm convinced, Eck and I need to start writing the questions...tonight. You can register at the event on Saturday beginning at 1:30. Teams are of 10 or less. A good time is guaranteed for all. And, if you just want to watch, there is a section for people who just want to watch and listen. We call it the "Lurker" section!

The big countdown is on, only 3 days left until Trivia Unplugged at the Noel Hangar! I'm remembering Robert Redford and an early appearance he did on "The Twilight Zone". He played Death and was such a nice guy as he worked on an elderly woman, ultimately convincing her to join him, leaving her basement apartment to go with him. It was a pretty creepy episode.
The Rules: no books, no phones, no computers, no notes, no electronic devices of any kind are allowed. My suggestion is to leave all such devices in your cars. Don’t bring any pens, pencils or paper, we will provide everything you need. The object of this contest is to see just how much you still remember. Scoring will be similar to the contest in April, based on the number of teams answering questions correct. After the question ends, your teams answer sheet will be picked up, and given to the score keepers. This game is fast-paced and you’re allowed one song to deliberate over and answer before the answer sheet needs to be handed into the scorekeeping department. It’s a fast moving game and a whole lot of fun. Oh, and no implanted chips, just potato or sun!
The contest is on September 20th at the Noel Hangar at the Stevens Point International Airport. Tailgating begins at 1:00. Registration begins at 1:30. For teams who have registered in advance, you can pick up your materials at that time. If you haven’t registered, you can do it at that time. All registration needs to be completed by 2:30, including picking up your registration materials. At 2:40, one team member will be allowed into the game room to reserve a table for your team. At 2:50, the rest of the team members will be allowed to enter the room. Playing members, maximum of 10, will need to have his/her badge visible to get into the playing area. The contest begins at 3:00. There will again be food and beverages available during the contest. The buffet will again be provided by Rockman’s Catering. The meal will be $12.00 per person. Food will be served from 4 until 8. Please no carry-ins, except for candy, you know, it’s called brain food, yep, I don’t think so. There will also be a bar, as in the past. Answer sheets will be picked up by lovely members of the Midstate Roller Derby members, the hardest working women on skates. Click here for the registration form, which needs to be completed online. Registration is $180 per team in advance, $200, the day of the contest. We will be officiating this fund raiser for CREATE Portage County. CREATE is a 501(c) 3 non-profit arts advocacy and resource organization. They represent the arts and culture sector of the business community and continue to expand the understanding that the arts and culture sector enhances education, economic impact and quality of life. The big countdown is on, only 4 days left until Trivia Unplugged at the Noel Hangar! Today is a sad day in the world of Trivia, The patron saint of first answers, Robert Redford passed away yesterday. Darned, I almost got to talk to him once but he was directing a movie and his partner at Sundance didn't know how to contact him. Pre-cell phone days.
