Update: Cancelled due to weather 🙁

My Millie and Vanillie ice cream sundae fundraisier is happening TOMORROW friday, June 5th! Come see me at Movies in the park taking place at the Grandon Civic Center in Sterling located downtown at 304 Brinks Cir. We will begin scooping at 6:30 PM when the pre-movie activities begin and we will be packing up when the movie starts playing at 8:00. Don't worry everyone, I have inspected the ice cream for quality control...and it is good to go! I can't wait to see you all! 😄🍦

I am so happy to announce that my mom and I are members of a new organization in town called Dementia Friendly Sterling, Illinois, Illinois through the CGH Health Foundation. Please take a minute to read about us and our cause and mission. Follow our page at Dementia Friendly Sterling, Illinois, Illinois to stay updated on what is to come.

We have created an action team for the Dementia Friendly Community Initiative. Our goal is to create an informed community that accepts and is inclusive of all individuals living with dementia, so that they feel safe and understood when navigating within their community. The Dementia Friendly Sterling Action Team (DFSAT), initiated by Beth Sterk, CGH Dementia Navigator and Dementia Champions; Teri Shaw, Whiteside County Senior Center and Sami Wiggins, Castor Home Health Solutions. The action team includes local government, law enforcement, senior center, NIAAA, University of IL Extension, the local Chamber, Alzheimer’s Association, along with healthcare representatives and people living with Dementia and their Care Partner. We have been working closely with Susan Frick, RUSH University, and the IL Cognitive Resource Network, so that individuals living with dementia can thrive in our inclusive community of Sterling, IL. Watch for more news to come and discover how you can be a part of this initiative!

I’m always down to match with my mom for a cause that I love..especially when it’s purple! 💜

There is something special and important about going on a visit and listening to stories that deserve to be remembered. We stand with the individuals, families, caregivers, and anyone else who has been affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia this Alzheimer’s and dementia awareness week. 💜

Another important part of my daily morning routine is getting my brushes so I can look my very best for my visits each day. The only problem is that it’s so relaxing it almost puts me back to sleep…then I remember I have friends to see and I wake back up..eventually 😝

This week is Dementia Awareness week. I spent my morning at the Memory Cafe that is a supportive gathering offered through the CGH Dementia project. Thank you to everyone who shared smiles, laughter, and your amazing stories with me today! 💜

Every morning, I start my day with self-guided rounds of the Police Department.

I always make sure to check the hallways, stops in each office for some pets, and most important of all - to check the break room for any crumbs!
