Sometime Mom Nature forces the issue. Lots of good, honest wear on this roof (on a beautiful home in historic Augusta County), but it was several decades old. A few months ago, a strong windstorm blew shingles off and into the yard. The owners realized the time had come to replace the entire roof. Definitely the right call. It was time.
