I am married to Donnie Miller, a self-employed, third generation cattle farmer. For the last 15 years, I have served as the manager and director of the Mississippi Horse Park. This multi-million public facility was founded as a successful partnership between Mississippi State University, the City of Starkville and Oktibbeha County. This opportunity has provided me a unique skill set in successful
leadership, budget planning and positive economic growth. Four years ago, I presented myself as a candidate for this office because I felt the citizens of this district and all of Oktibbeha County deserve more fiscal responsibility and transparency from our Board of Supervisors. I look forward to visiting with each one of you to hear your concerns. Improvements can always be made and I would like to share my vision with you for the future of this wonderful place we call home. I humbly request your prayers, support and vote as we begin this journey together. Vision:
Economic Development and Infrastructure
Increased commerce and new industry translate into more jobs and a larger tax base for our county. The economic development professionals in Oktibbeha County and the surrounding region do amazing work to attract economic development and improve the quality of life here. We will continue the public-private collaboration between elected officials and economic development leaders, and support our local economic development professionals who are on the front lines of these efforts. Maintaining, improving and building new infrastructure is necessary for the future of our county. We must seek new and innovative sources for funding and constructing vital components of our county’s infrastructure. Our failure to do so will stagnate and hamper future growth. Education
Our county education system has issues that must be addressed and I will support the forming of a strong, inclusive coalition of our community to address these issues. We must have a viable, accountable school system that produces students ready to join the workforce or continue their education either in technical training or higher academic pursuits. An educated workforce is the lifeblood of future growth for our county. Health Care and Public Safety
Oktibbeha County is a great place to work, play and raise our families because of our quality of life. We have to have leadership on the Board of Supervisors that supports, protects and seeks ways to improve the lives of every citizen with quality health care and responsive public safety. Fiscal Responsibility
We must have a Board of Supervisors that demands efficiency and accountability with our tax dollars. The goal of every Supervisor should be to find ways we can LOWER the tax burden on our citizens and maintain efficiency in the delivery of services.
