The Starkville Police Department requests your assistance locating Ranyjah Jones (13). Jones was last seen at her residence in Chandler Park Apartments at approximately 4:00 p.m. on Monday, June 1, 2026. She is described as 5'4", 180 lbs. She was last seen wearing pajamas and a pink bonnet.

The Starkville Police Department and her family are concerned for her welfare. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Starkville Police Department at 662-323-4131.

The Starkville Police Department operates a safety zone and rideshare pickup/drop off in the Cotton District on Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. This is designed to support public safety in high-traffic areas.

The rideshare pickup/drop off location will continue operating from the same location used since the 2024 change.

May 24, 2026

On Sunday, May 24, at 2:25 p.m., officers with the Starkville Police Department responded to a disturbance at Chandler Park Apartments, 309 Reed Road. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male gunshot victim.

Jakavious Goss (19, Starkville) was arrested on scene and charged with domestic violence – aggravated assault. Goss was transported to the Oktibbeha County Jail.

The victim was transported to Jackson for further treatment and is in critical condition.

This incident remains under investigation.

Starkville Police are investigating a shooting at Chandler Park Apartments, 309 Reed Road. One person was injured and transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Oktibbeha County for treatment. One individual is in custody.

This remains an active investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

May 18, 2026

On Sunday, May 17, at about 11:00 a.m., the Starkville Police Department responded to a report of an assault that had occurred earlier that day in which the suspect allegedly entered a residence on Peoples Street, struck the victim with a bat, and attempted to strangle her.

The victim was treated at Baptist Memorial Hospital–Oktibbeha County and later released.

Blair Bell (35, Starkville) was charged with domestic violence – aggravated assault and residential burglary. Bell turned himself in Monday morning.

According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, 1 in 4 women (24.3%) and 1 in 7 men (13.8%) aged 18 and older in the United States have been victims of severe physical violence by an intimate partner during their lifetime.

This incident remains under investigation.
