Lori Fullbright is a Hall of Fame Journalist that does a lot of good for the community she represents. This program focuses on violent crime, and to Lori's credit, she pivoted a bit to talk about more than just one crime. The people she interviews are all experts in their field and I have listened to the stories.

Lori has introduced me to several people that have played a game of catch. We talk about how I learned about the catch journey, and some of those sessions. After listening to this episode I have renewed passion for more catch sessions with regular people making a tremendous difference.

This episode will focus on the murder of Barry by Derek. The fact that the alias' in this case are Loci, Hershey, Cherokee, Summer can be confusing. The call we got that morning was one I feared we would get. A homeless encampment under a bridge, and a 12 hour time lapse.

Witnesses, and suspects alike would not hang around. Evidence would be destroyed and lost. All well founded fears, but did not occur. Tula Homicide has worked several homeless murders since and all have been solved. John Brown and his team solved it in 15 hours. First 48 season 21 episode 7 memorialized another case solved by Detective Brown.

The inspiration for this podcast is the family of John Brown. Kathy Brown invited Joni and I to Colorado for a memorial to John. Words can never express our affection for this family.

Alert 360, Tulsa Crime Stoppers, Tulsa Police Department, Real Tim Crime Centers, Home Camera systems,all are part of the equation to prevent the "Quality of Life Crimes" like car burglaries.

Our residence has a state of the art alarm system provided by Alert 360, headquartered in Tulsa OK. I get the alerts from Tulsa Police about recent activity. I used to work as a burglary detective and these car break ins upset people. Alert 360 calls me at 0300 and alerts me of a man on my driveway near my car. I do not immediately answer so they call the real cops.

Good thing my car was locked, and although for thirty six years I answered the phone when it rang after, retirement not so much. I do not know which cop answered the call, but Tulsa Cops check the whole place not just a drive by and shine.

An answer to homelessness, petty crimes to survive, begins with identification of those that need services. If prison is the service so be it but if this kids needs a meal I bet we can find one for him. See previous post on Crime Stoppers. Stay Tuned.
