Summit Academy is excited to announce the launch of its new dual enrollment program in partnership with St. Louis Community College! ✨🏔️

The program empowers students to complete high school while earning college credit, allowing them to choose from a wide range of STLCC online classes. Supported by dedicated teachers and staff, students are gaining confidence in their academic abilities, discovering new possibilities, and building a sense of hope and purpose. As school counselor Lindsay Traffas shares, “Our students are gaining confidence in their academic abilities and seeing a future through education. It has brought them hope and purpose to their time with us.”

Students are already making ambitious strides toward their goals. This summer, two students are set to take psychology and criminal justice—one with dreams of becoming a lawyer and attending Jackson State University, and another inspired to pursue architecture after seeing his peers succeed. For many, the program is more than just an academic opportunity; it’s a chance to learn about themselves, develop life skills, and take pride in their accomplishments. As one student put it, “I never thought I would be doing college work, but when I started the classes it opened my mind.”

With more students enrolling—including a future fashion designer aiming for her master’s degree—the sense of possibility at Summit Academy has never been stronger! 💪

Summer is a great time to explore and learn together as a family! SSD’s FACE (Family and Community Engagement) encourages families to take advantage of the many educational and affordable opportunities our community has to offer this summer. When students visit places like the Zoo, Art Museum, or Science Center, they experience things that cannot be replicated in a classroom. Educators call this building background knowledge—the real-world experiences that help students better understand what they read and learn in school.
