Today we had the opportunity to train with our mutual aid partners Valley Park Fire Protection District Metro West Fire Protection District, St. Louis County Missouri and Eureka Fire Protection District on a simulated building collapse. Thank you to McNamara's Towing & Transport for donating the car and assisting with setting up the drill. Our heavy rescue has all equipment to handle these types of events. These types of calls require multiple crews to be successful. This home is slated for demolition. Crews simulated a building collapse with people trapped inside a car. Crews had to stabilize the building using specialized stabilization struts and large air bags to stabilize the building. Access to the car was done using the jaws of life to open the damaged doors to free the simulated patients. These are great training opportunities and we thank our mutual aid partners for the invite. Great job to all the crews at training this morning.
