Several of our rising 8th grade students represented Hixson at the final School Board meeting of the year.
Counselors Sarah Bodi and Emily Bardot created the Hixson Kindness Crew. Over the course of the year they:
-Wrote grants to start the stuffed animal support check out.
-Used the WGSD PTO grant to create self-care first aid kit that students could check out.
-Birthday locker celebration so everyone could be included.
-Pop-up surprises for staff members, including the staff lounge takeover, and Friday surprise snacks.
-Dirty soda orders in recognition of teacher appreciation week.
-Welcome signs on Fridays.
-Well wishes in the forms of crafts and positive notes for our students doing Book Battle and for Special Olympics.
-Also wrote letters to businesses outside of Hixson to let them know that they are either a favorite business and we appreciate the work they are doing.
Because of this work they were recognized by Character.org as a Promising Practice.
