The 2026 Springfield Memorial Day Parade is in the books!

Not only a special day to memorialize those who gave the last full measure of devotion… but a chance to teach one of the grands to thank those who are here… in honor for those who aren’t here.

(Not sure which was the craziest move… having 2, 3 and 6 year-olds riding or having 4 and 6 year old horses join Lightning to carry them) 🤷‍♂️

Remembering those who gave “the last full measure of devotion.”

With three counties as a State Senator instead of just one, I find myself stretched thin on Memorial Day weekend.

But I always take time for the longest running Memorial Day Parade in Ohio in the little town of Tremont City.

Today, I asked Scout to be in his first parade. He did fantastic for a four year-old!

Remembering those who gave their last full measure of devotion.

What a special treat to be the keynote for the Global Impact STEM Academy graduation tonight.

An incredible class of 101 graduates. Many students (I think 30+) graduating with 4.0 grade average and even more graduating with not only their high school diploma but their Associates Degree from Clark State College as well.

Congratulations to not only these young adults but also parents who made the active choice to pick GiSA for their children. Parental involvement is the key to raising young men and women into successful adults.

Well done.

Today, we passed my Senate Bill 328 out of the Senate on a vote of 30-0.

Senate Bill 328 is the “Education and Workforce Return on Investment” Initiative. It establishes an inter-agency initiative to improve education and workforce data, while mandating middle school career exploration courses.

Much thanks to Ohio Excels as well as The Greater Springfield Partnership for the groundbreaking work they have done on improving workforce readiness by helping students pursue their God-given talents and helping make sure students are being trained and educated for the jobs of the next 10-20 years.

What a great morning to attend Graduation Ceremonies at Clark State College. This one was extra special as Clark State says farewell to President Dr. Jo Alice Blondin after 13 years as Clark State’s 5th President.

I had a chance to meet them incoming President, Dr. Walters, who will take the helm in June.

We wish Dr. Blondin all the best and, of course, congratulations to the many graduates who walked the stage today! Well done!

I know I harp on this A LOT, but the State of Ohio continues to report tax revenues well above projected estimates. Currently, the surplus is $1.2B of your money with over two months left in our fiscal year.

These are YOUR tax dollars generated by income tax, sales tax, CAT tax, etc. Again, this is your money, generated from your commerce and business activity in Ohio.

Many folks say my Senate Bill 356 (that doubles the Homestead Exemption on property tax for seniors and those who are disabled) is not big enough. I agree!!!

Because $1.2B could quadruple that exemption for homeowners on fixed incomes.

At a minimum, we could move towards reducing property taxes to $0 for seniors who own their homes.

Bottom line, we need to return this tax revenue to taxpayers instead of just finding something new to spend it on.

(And NO, spending it on a football stadium is not something I support and pushed to remove it from the operating budget multiple times.)

The best part of watching the primary results come in last night, was not being on the ballot this time around!

But that doesn’t mean I am not preparing for the race ahead.

Last night and tonight I finished 36 hand-written thank you cards to folks who are helping me prepare for what the future holds.

Want to be a part it it?

If you want to help me, you can at this link:

Thank you to the hundreds and hundreds who simply contribute $50 or $100 on a regular basis so I can focus on the real issues instead of campaign stuff.

Honestly, the thought of this guy being anywhere near the piggy bank that holds all your tax dollars should concern everyone.

Jay Edwards got $688M for healthcare providers and they rewarded him with 30 maxed out checks for $15k each… equally $465,000 within 2 weeks of the bill being signed. Coincidence?

Now TODAY… we hear of massive fraud from Medicaid providers in Ohio!!!!

No Way Jay.

I am voting for Kristina Roegner for State Treasurer.
