Why I appreciate unions 🇺🇸

I’ll start:

Weekends off
Paid vacations
The 8-hour workday
Sick leave
Paid family leave
Safer job sites
Fair wages
No child labor
Health care and retirement benefits
A seat at the table for working people

Every one of these was fought for — not given. As someone who’s battled in the legislature working on economic mobility for Peoria and all of Illinois, I know none of it happens without organized labor pushing for it.

This Labor Day, I’m grateful for every union member who built the middle class we’re still trying to protect. 💪🏾

If you have a kiddo in 1st - 7th Grade who lives in the 92nd District, please encourage them to join my Get Booked Up 📚 with JGB Summer🌞 Reading Program. Summer readers will be rewarded with a fun filled afternoon with other throughout the district. Its so important to keep our children engaged in extra reading!

We want students to get excited about reading— the same way our generation was excited about the Book It program📖 and those personal pan pizzas! 🍕

Students who develop a love of reading enter each school year ahead of students who do not so let’s encourage all of our kids to win that fun experience🎉
