Roughly 60 to 70 UN member states permit abortion purely on request or on broad socioeconomic grounds, but enforce gestational limits before or at 12 to 14 weeks.
The remaining 100+ UN member states do not permit abortion "on request" or "on demand" at all. Instead, they outlaw the procedure unless a pregnancy meets strict, legal exceptions:
To Preserve Health: Around 47 countries permit abortion only if the pregnancy poses a risk to the woman's physical or mental health.
To Save the Mother's Life: Around 44 countries restrict abortion entirely, making an exception only to prevent the death of the pregnant woman.
Complete Prohibition: There are approximately 24 countries where abortion is fully illegal under any circumstance, offering no explicit exceptions even to save the woman's life (e.g., El Salvador, Malta, the Philippines, Honduras, and Senegal)
God forgive Virginia if HJ1 Constitutional Amendment is passed in November.
