“Art is to the community what the dream is to the individual.” - Thomas Mann

Loved popping into the Stained Glass Art Room at On Track Academy this week. Educator Erin Siemers helps students and adults explore the art and science of stained glass through her classes and Material Science Club.

I’ve taken a night class myself, and my daughter, an OTA graduate, teaches stained glass while attending college. Grateful for On Track Academy and the CTE programs across Spokane Public Schools that open doors and spark futures. ✨

Ferris is the fourth Spokane Public High School to open this type of clinic. The other three are at Rogers, Shadle Park and North Central.

WELCOME BACK, SPS! 🎉
Wishing our students and staff a great start to 2026 after a busy end to 2025.

In the final week of 2025 at SPS, I attended the Native Ed PAC Winter Solstice potluck, heard great advice from returning Rogers students during a senior class Q&A (kudos to the Rogers College & Career Center 💜), and cheered on students at the Railroad Rumble and Rubber Chicken spirit games (I sadly missed Groovy Shoes). 🚂🐔

A fun way to wrap up 2025 and cheers to a strong start to 2026!

RESOURCES FOR FAMILIES: While the upcoming Winter Break allows students, staff, and families to enjoy holiday festivities and winter activities, we know it can also be a challenging time for some families. Check out the blog linked below to learn about resources that are available in the Spokane community:
