I would like to thank the Spartanburg Sheriffs Office and the Sheriff for posting child safe sleep info on their page. There can never be enough coverage. This is the same info the Coroners Office posted last year as well as the safe sleep video we provide to any obstetrician that will show it. The video was filmed by a pediatrician from SRMC. We also held a press conference last year to advise the public and news agencies covered it. We can never stop trying to prevent child fatalities in Spartanburg. From Homicides, traffic fatalities, and safe sleep deaths, one child fatality is too many. I have attached links on the effort.

Unfortunately, it's clear that tonight is not going to bring the result we had hoped.

I want to thank my supporters, both on the ground and financial, who worked so hard on my behalf to spread our message.

I also want to congratulate Bill Rhyne on his victory. I called him earlier this evening, and I look forward to working together with him in the future to move Spartanburg County forward.

Words cannot express the gratitude I feel towards my family and my team for standing beside me on this campaign. It was an honor to be your candidate, and although we did not ultimately accomplish our goal, I am proud of the campaign we ran and the issues we helped to bring to the forefront.

Spartanburg County is my home, and the results of an election do not change that. Let’s all work together now to make it the best place it can be.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Captain Steve Henderson. His passing leaves a void in the lives of his loved ones and those who served along side him that can never be filled. I pray that the Lord will be with Captain Henderson’s family, friends, and fellow officers during this challenging time.

It is with deep sadness that we inform you that Captain Steve Henderson has tragically passed away.

Captain Henderson spent a significant portion of his life serving the citizens of Spartanburg County in various roles throughout our agency. Captain Steve Henderson served over 19 years with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office. Before his promotion to Uniform Patrol Captain, Henderson previously supervised the day-to-day operations of the SCSO Special Services as 1st Lieutenant. Before becoming 1st Lieutenant of Special Services, Henderson served as Lieutenant of the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit. This is where he spent the majority of his career. First, as a handler, then Sergeant, and ultimately promoted to Lieutenant. Henderson also served as an operator on the SWAT Team.

Captain Henderson has received numerous awards and commendations including the Medal of Valor, multiple Deputy of the Quarter awards, and K-9 Handler of the year for 5 consecutive years.

Captain Henderson was born and raised in Spartanburg, SC. Before beginning his career in law enforcement Captain Henderson served in the United States Air Force from 1994-1998.

We will share more information, including any ways we may be able to support the family or honor Captain Henderson’s memory, as it becomes available.

I’m proud to have the endorsement of my good friend Senator Roger Nutt! Senator Nutt knows Spartanburg County as well as anybody - it’s an honor to have his endorsement of my campaign.

Spartanburg deserves a sheriff with a proven record of leadership, experience, and results under pressure. I have spent my career serving and protecting this county, and I am ready to continue doing so as your Sheriff.

Tonight's the night! Tune into FOX Carolina at 7:00 PM for our debate.

Early voting starts today.

Early voting for Spartanburg County Sheriffs runoff occurs this week August 13-15 at the county administration building. If you are unable to vote on the upcoming runoff date August 19th please plan to vote early.

Historically, voter turnout is lower in runoff elections. I urge everyone who is of age to cast their vote and talk to family and friends about casting their votes as well. This election is too important to not cast a vote.

If you are still undecided of who to vote for I urge you to check out my website or my page to see what experience and leadership I would bring to the Spartanburg County Sheriffs Office.

God Bless!

I am honored by this endorsement. Early voting starts tomorrow. Be sure to get out and vote.
