Good morning . Today is National Police Woman Day, meant to honor and recognize the service of women in law enforcement. We are proud of our female officers and the dedication they show to this community each and every day. Thank you for your service!

Good afternoon, . Please join us in welcoming our three newest hires, Ofc. Ashley Casiano # 235, Ofc. Mykayla Fluster # 236, and CSO Lizbeth Serrano # 802.

Ofc. Casiano comes to us from the Community College of Rhode Island, where she was the director of Athletics, Recreation, and Wellness. She was also a Division 1 Lacrosse player at Marist University.

Ofc. Fluster is a recent graduate of the University of Tennessee, where she was a member of their Division 1 Rowing team. Ofc. Fluster is also a graduate of SWPD's Internship Program.

CSO Serrano has a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science from SUNY Cobleskill and has previously worked as a farm hand and Veterinary Tech Assistant for VCA Veterinary Specialists of CT in West Hartford.

Officers Casiano and Fluster will begin their academy training at the New Britain Police Department next Friday, while CSO Serrano is currently attending Animal Control Officer School through the State of CT.

Good morning . As Public Safety Dispatcher Ryan Fraley continues his fight with Stage 4 metastatic melanoma, we are proud to partner with the Tunxis Fire Department as they host a pasta dinner on Saturday, September 26th, in an effort to continue raising funds for Ryan and his family.

Thank you all for your continued support of Ryan. We are greatly appreciative of all the donations that were raised via his GoFundMe campaign.

Good afternoon , Today, we completed our school zone enforcement period to coincide with the start of school:

Total Stops: 117
Verbal Warnings: 49
Written Warnings: 35
Infractions: 28
Misdemeanor Summonses: 4

A majority of the stops focused on the following violations: Traveling Fast 14-218a, as well as the school zone 14-218aSZ, speeding 14-219(b) and 14-219(b)SZ, 14-301 Stop Signs, 14-296aa(b1st Electronic Handheld Devices, Operating Under Suspension 14-215a, and 14-213b – Insufficient Insurance.

We will continue to monitor our school zones throughout the school year.

We are also assigning extra patrols to traffic enforcement in school areas. Watch out for children, watch your speed, don’t drive distracted, and pay attention to the bus stops. Be safe everyone!
