The South Pasadena Fire Department, ABC7, Toys for Tots, and Southern California firefighters are celebrating the 28th year of the Spark of Love Toy Drive! Firefighters and Marines will be joining together to collect and distribute new, unwrapped toys and sports equipment for underserved children and teens in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Orange, Ventura, and Riverside counties. Over the years, the Spark of Love Toy Drive has successfully collected and distributed more than nine million toys.

Our goal is to exceed last year’s collection of over 500,000 toys. The 2020 Spark of Love Toy Drive will run now through Thursday, December 24, 2020.

Due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, this year’s Spark of Love Toy Drive is transitioning to a virtual platform and accepting donations through an online partnership with MyRegistry.com As a result, supporting the Spark of Love Toy Drive has never been quicker, easier, or safer! Our hearts are heavy and with our Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD / United Firefighters of Los Angeles City, IAFF Local-112) family this evening. 11 brave firefighters were injured in a downtown LA explosion and fire.

The LACoFD sends our thoughts and prayers to all the injured firefighters, along with their families. 🙏🏼

Together, we are here for and stand with our LAFD family during this difficult time.

Last week responded to a brush fire at at the 110 freeway and Arroyo Drive. With the help of and the crews were able to contain the fire and knock it down quickly! Thanks for the assist!

Another heat wave will be making its way through Southern California this week. Temperatures are expected to exceed 100 degrees all week long. Cooling centers will be activated again at both South Pasadena Public Library and the South Pasadena Senior Center. Stay cool out there and remember to stay hydrated!

A few weeks back we had the pleasure of having CJ Hamilton come in and teach some classes on electrical safety and solar safety. CJ is a retired, third generation electrician, who now shares his knowledge and experience with fire departments all over the country. His classes focus on firefighter safety when responding to calls involving electricity. Several local area departments were also on hand for the classes. Thanks again for volunteering your time, we enjoy having you!
