Sunday, we celebrate fathers and all they do for their children, including changing diapers. Remember to throw them in the garbage, and not in the curbside recycling cart.

Today, we had the honor of celebrating the incredible fathers in our senior community at our annual SoMi Seniors Fatherโ€™s Day Luncheon. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ‘”

The luncheon was filled with laughter, friendship, and appreciation as our participants enjoyed a catered lunch, music from a live DJ, raffle prizes, massage chair services, manicures, and a special cigar keepsake to commemorate the occasion.

This celebration would not have been possible without the support of our community partners and volunteers. Thank you to the Office of Commissioner Raquel Regalado for the generous donations, Popular Bank volunteers for lending a helping hand, and Mayor Javier Fernandez and Commissioner Danny Rodriguez for stopping by to celebrate with our seniors.

Most importantly, today was a reminder to celebrate the fathers, grandfathers, father figures, and mentors who have shaped generations with their love, guidance, and unwavering support.

๐Ÿ’™ Happy Fatherโ€™s Day to all the dads in our community. Thank you for the lessons you teach, the memories you create, and the impact you continue to make every day.

Hey, dads: ropes are great for jumping, but ropes, strings and wire arenโ€™t good for recycling. They tangle the machines and shut them down. They should never go in the curbside recycling bin. They belong in the trash.

NOTICE OF POWER OUTAGE โ€“ DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

The City of South Miami would like to inform residents that during construction activities associated with the drainage improvement project near 5951 SW 56 Terrace, the contractor encountered and struck a Florida Power & Light (FPL) power line that had not been previously identified or marked by FPL, resulting in a loss of electrical service to surrounding homes earlier today.

The City immediately notified FPL of the incident, and FPL crews are currently assessing and addressing the situation.

At this time, the timeline for repairs and power restoration is entirely dependent upon FPL's response and repair process. The City will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as soon as additional information becomes available.

For outage information, restoration updates, or to report additional issues, please contact FPL directly at:

FPL Power Outage Hotline
1-800-4OUTAGE (1-800-468-8243)

We appreciate your patience and understanding as repairs are completed.
