Family and friends, recently Ryan J Servatius and his wife have decided to donate an EMILY device to South Haven to help improve beach safety along our stretch of the shoreline. These devices (see link below) should be kept AT the beach for quick use. With that in mind, a second device is needed so that one can be placed at each of the primary beaches. Samantha King is organizing efforts to collect funds for the second. My South Haven lifeguards forum - South Haven L.I.F.E is working to make that second device a reality. Steve Daugherty and I have committed $1,000 toward those efforts. If you can contribute ANY amount, please comment here and I’ll get a Venmo or PayPal link added.
*Make no mistake, I do not believe, and experts concur, that these devices are less effective when not used by trained and certified lifeguards who would be on the beach with eyes on the water. NOTHING can replace trained eyes and fast feet but, every little bit helps as we continue to push towards bringing lifeguards back to SH. Let me know if you’re interested in helping.
As part of this year's Great Lakes Surf Rescue Project and Training, Silver Beach County Park received two donated devices called EMILY rescue robots.➡️Subsc...
