As you are watching Somersworth and all the surrounding towns and cities struggle to cut millions and millions of dollars from their already razor thin school budgets I’d like to remind you that the NH Supreme Court ruled last July (Rand v State of NH) on a lawsuit originally filed pre-pandemic that the state of NH is going against its own constitution with regard to adequately funding per pupil education at the state level and the GOP led NH legislature’s response was to essentially ignore the court and instead file bills to redefine what is “adequate”. All the while cutting taxes for big businesses and the elite more and more and more. THAT is the reason why schools are struggling to pay the bills, THAT is why your property taxes continue to go up and up and up. The teachers and the districts aren’t at fault here, they are doing their level best with a deck that keeps getting stacked worse against them. Keep that in mind.
